A Message from our CEO

"Let us not become weary in doing good,   for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." - Galatians 6:9

Greetings:

Have you missed us?

I believe that transparency is important, and as such, I also feel that it is important to apologize for the lack of a newsletter over the past several months. While we have not published much outside of our Annual Gala news, we have not been idle. There is so much going on at Miami Bridge and we are excited about what the future holds. In the coming months you can expect a new and improved website, which we have been hard at work on. We also have several events over the next few months, including a Silent Auction next Saturday where we will launch our new jewelry line - made by our volunteers and staff. We are looking forward to the summer as we have lots of fun plans for our youth, which we look forward to sharing with you! We are still recovering from the excitement of having 500 of you join us for our Annual Gala! We may have been quiet lately, but that's because we have been hard at work! Please enjoy this special edition "Recap" newsletter and look for regular newsletters returning next month.

Thanks and God bless,
Dorcas

ABA Homeless Youth Legal Network and Youth2Work Resource Fair

Thanks to everyone who helped out and tabled at our  American Bar Association  Homeless Youth Legal Network and Youth2Work Resource Fair hosted at our Central Campus! Organizations such as Hope, Inc., Miami Dade College, Career Source SFL, and Job Corps were present to assist with career inquiries by providing leadership development, career coaching and skills training. The event proved to be a valuable resource for young adults trying to find a job in Miami-Dade!

The Little Lighthouse
Foundation

The Little Lighthouse Foundation has been enriching our youth's time with us through their Mindful Hour & Fit Club programs. The kids and teens really enjoy taking part in their countless, collaborative activities.
Miami Bridge Takes Tallahassee

Miami Bridge's CEO Dorcas Wilcox and Deputy CEO/CFO Steve Hope met with Florida officials in Tallahassee. Our organization would like to thank Representative Robert Asencio, Representative Cynthia Stanford, Representative Carlos Trujillo, Senator Anitere Flores, Representative Jeanette Nunez, Florida Network's Stacy Gromatski and Megan Picnic for taking the time to meet with us and hear all about Miami Bridge's philanthropic work in the community.

Miami Youth Fair 2017

We were fortunate to have an anonymous donor gift us 75 admission tickets to take our
youth to the Miami Youth Fair. Thanks to POP ticket donations by fellow supporters, the kids got to experience all the thrill rides and activities at this year's fair.

Special Thank You!

Miami Bridge Board Member, Dr. Todd Giardina,  Robin Schafer & daughter, Juliette Giardina

We are very thankful for Dr. Todd and Robin taking their time during Lent to make a difference at Miami Bridge! They brought in plastic bins which were then labeled for tops and bottoms, men and women and by size. They then sorted all the donated clothing--with a little help from a very joyous, almost 3 year old volunteer! We are so grateful for their help!

Out My Closet

We were beyond excited to have Out My Closet's second pop-up shop at Miami Bridge's Central Campus. Thank you for providing clothing and accessories for our youth along with conducting highly engaging empowerment workshops!

  • Become a mentor through our Mentoring Program
  • Tutor our youth
  • Give a youth job training
  • Plan an activity for our children and teens
Volunteer Event:

Dinner is an opportunity to dine and fellowship with the Bridge Family. We are looking for individuals, families, or groups to come in, prepare dinner and eat with our wonderful staff and kids. We can provide the food or you may bring your own food as well!
Please note: Uncooked food must be prepared on our premises. We WILL welcome you with a huge smile and a loving environment.

The volunteer hours for cooking dinner for the youth are 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. (daily)

If you would like to volunteer, serve as a mentor or plan an activity for our youth, please call
