|Recap of the 2013 Worldwide Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Preconference in New Orleans, LA, USA.
|The 2013 Worldwide Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance (DynAA) Preconference was held March 16-17, 2013 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in New Orleans, LA, USA.
The 2013 Worldwide DynAA Preconference was our largest to date. This year we had 72 attendees made up of faculty members, Microsoft Dynamics partners, and Microsoft employees. 19 countries were represented.
Important announcements made at this year's event included:
- Student pricing for Microsoft Dynamics Certification Exams
- New Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Curriculum and Free Instructor Training
- Free Microsoft Dynamics User Group Memberships for DynAA member faculty and their students
- Introduction of the Microsoft Dynamics Student Certificate Program

The Worldwide DynAA Preconference is the definitive forum for exchange of curriculum and research among current and prospective DynAA members. For the 2013 Preconference, faculty were invited to submit curriculum packages and research papers which incorporated Microsoft Dynamics into business and information systems courses for presentation. The authors of the winning curriculum package received the "Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Instructional Award" and were given the opportunity to present a demonstration class. The 2013 award was presented to Dr. Huei Lee from Eastern Michigan University and to Dr. Kuo Lane Chen from University of Southern Mississippi for their submission " Using Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Business Process Management: A Curriculum Package for Business Process Management or Supply Chain Management Courses".

The 2013 DynAA European Event to take place in Copenhagen in October!
This year we are very excited to invite you for the 2013 DynAA European event at the Microsoft Development Center in Copenhagen, Denmark in October 2013. This event is a conference where you, as Microsoft Dynamics partners and customers can engage with professors and educators, as they come together to enhance their knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics and the use of technology in the classroom. This event will offer an opportunity to collaborate with educators and learn more about Microsoft Dynamics and related topics, as well as providing an important forum for the exchange of ideas and information for current and prospective DynAA members.

FREE Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Curriculum and Instructor training to be offered in the United States and Europe in the summer of 2013!
Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance will offer free training related to new Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 curriculum being offered to DynAA members. When taught in its entirety, the curriculum begins to prepare students to take the Microsoft Dynamics AX Financials and the Microsoft Dynamics AX Trade and Logistics certification exams. The modules within the curriculum can also be used individually to enhance existing curriculum. Instructor Guides will be provided.
Learn how to use this curriculum in your classroom either to enhance your current curriculum or to begin to prepare your students for certification.
The training class and all materials needed during the training, including the use of computers, will be provided by DynAA at no charge. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided.. Travel and hotel expenses are at the cost of the attendee. Those attending from a Public Sector institution will be required to provide a signed Pre-Approval letter.

On March 21, 2013, the final day of Convergence 2013, an exciting announcement was made about the location of Convergence 2014. Next year's location will be Atlanta, GA, USA!! Following tradition, the 2014 Worldwide Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Preconference will also take place in Atlanta, GA, USA.
Convergence 2014 is March 4-7, 2014 at the Georgia World Congress Center. Anticipated dates for the 2014 Worldwide Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Preconference are March 2-3, 2014, but with all the exciting changes we are making, this could be extended, so keep an eye open for additional training opportunities prior to the Preconference.

Microsoft Dynamics AX User Group meets HAMK University of Applied Sciences.
DynAA institutions are already starting to benefit from connecting with the Microsoft Dynamics User Groups.
The degree programs in the Business Administration and Business Information Technology department at HAMK University of Applied Sciences invited the Finnish AX user group for a visit to H?meenlinna, Finland. The meeting comprised of 17 AX professionals from 15 companies around Finland, who all use different versions of the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system.
The AX user group meeting was hosted by Tarja Laine, CEO of Lainetar Oy and principal lecturer Lasse Sepp?nen of Business IT. The program founder, Tiina Niemi Niecon Oy, presented how a marketing campaign is planned and managed in AX. Sepp?nen presented how Business Administration and Business IT students learn ERP systems and business processes as daily routines of a practice enterprise are performed using AX. In order to develop teaching further Sepp?nen asked the user groups to tell about the company requirements to the students present.

NEW OFFERING: Microsoft Dynamics exams to be available at Student and ITA pricing levels in the summer of 2013!
In the summer of 2013 Microsoft Dynamics exams will be available at student and ITA pricing levels).
What does this mean for your students?
- Students will no longer need vouchers to access discounted Microsoft Dynamics certification exams
- With a valid student ID or transcript, any student will be eligible for Student Pricing for Microsoft Dynamics certification exams; this is a 50% discount.
- With a valid student ID or transcript, students from an ITA school will be eligible for ITA Pricing for Microsoft Dynamics certification exams; this is a 55% discount.

|NEW OFFERING: Microsoft Dynamics Student Certificate Program
The Microsoft Dynamics Student Certificate Program (MDSCP) will be offered starting in the fall of 2013.
This program will:
- Provide measurable requirements for DynAA member institutions to differentiate their institution and students as having significant standard-based exposure to Microsoft Dynamics' solutions in coursework.
- Provide students the ability to document their familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics in a standardized and recognized way.
- Allow Microsoft to identify schools offering certificate level coursework in order to focus additional resources on these schools.
- Allow Microsoft Dynamics partners and customers to focus their recruiting efforts on institutions producing graduates with a higher level of Microsoft Dynamics product knowledge.

Versions of Microsoft Dynamics Software Currently Supported
Because your institution belongs to the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance (DynAA), you have access to the full line of Microsoft Dynamics products. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org at any time for questions about obtaining one of these great Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) products.
The most current versions* available are:
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011
- Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
- Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013
- Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011
DynAA will always order the most current version of the software unless stated. Requests will be honored for one product version earlier. Support is available for the most current version and one version earlier.
*Due to different release schedules, there are some countries where these may not be the most current versions.

The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance EMEA Advisory Council is soliciting nominations - including self-nominations - for Council membership for terms beginning July 1, 2013. The Council's purpose is "to advise Microsoft to continuously improve the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program and offering at all levels" and serving on the Council represents academic service to the profession at the highest level.

Local Engagement Empowers the Use of Microsoft Dynamics in Curriculum
When you start using Microsoft Dynamics in your curriculum or for research purposes, engagement with other educators, the local Microsoft subsidiary, and engagement with Microsoft Dynamics partners and customers will help empower your success. Read this article by Arto Talmo from Haaga-Helia Univeersity of Applied Sciences in Finland, a member of the DynAA EMEA Advisory Council, on how they have brought in Microsoft Dynamics software for use in their curriculum by engaging with their local Microsoft Dynamics User Groups.
Use of Clients in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013
In the past few years, Microsoft has improved the graphical user interface (GUI) of the Microsoft Dynamics products. Previously there was only one client version to address the system, nowadays users have the choice to use different clients.
There are three clients plus a development environment available for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013:
- Windows Client (earlier known as the RTC)
- Web Client
- SharePoint Client
- Developers Client
