Press Release for our AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Rounds

Mid-America Speedway in Indianapolis to Host Rounds 8 & 9 of the 2017 AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championships on August 4-5

Indianapolis, IN. - July 24, 2017- Mid-America Speedway in Indianapolis is getting ready to host for the fifth-consecutive season rounds 8-9 of the 2017 AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Series on August 4-5, which will see an eclectic mix of vintage dirt track racing machines from across the globe. This year's races will again be sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Bloomington, Indiana.

"In what is our 10 th season of hosting races at the Marion County Fairgroundshere on Indy's southeast side, we are really looking forward to again welcoming AMA Racing's Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Series to our facility," stated Jim Terchila, track president and promoter at Mid-America Speedway. "Unfortunately last season's second evening was rained out, and in spite of all the rain Indy has seen this year, we have been very lucky here. The week before our last event the track saw 6" of rain, yet by race time we still had a 2" cushion above the groove and the racing went off without a hitch. We're hoping Mother Nature stays on our side for this year's Vintage National races.

"This year's doubleheader round will see strictly the Vintage Dirt Track National races on Friday, August 4 while on Saturday, August 5 we will run the Vintage National races as well as our regular racing program," continued Terchila. " Y & S Designs out of Coatesville, IN. is setting us up with some very nice trophies for this year's event. They also take care of our regular season t-shirts and banners. And former AMA Grand National competitors and Class of '79 members Jackie Mitchell and Charlie Roberts will also be racing this event. Mitchell's Buy Right Autois also one of our associate sponsors for this weekend's races."

Gates open at 2PM EDT and tickets for this special event will be $10/each for grandstand seating and pit passes for adults, and children 5-9 will be able to get in for just $5/each. Rider's meeting will start at 4 PM EDT sharp, with practice at 4:30 and heats set to roll out at 7.

"We hope everyone will be able to come out and enjoy the races over the first weekend in August, and that everyone comes hungry, too," said Terchila, "as Chomp'z Truck food will also be serving their non-typical track food during the races. We're looking forward to this great weekend of racing as well as seeing all of our fans and sponsors!"
