Happy Valentines Day to all our Scouting youth and adults!!!

You are the heart of Scouting in Marin!

Below are quite a few items that were not in the Dispatch at the beginning of the month. Some of them have just become live on our web site.

Read through, and please pass on this information to all the people in your pack, troop, crew, or post!
Don't Miss this Opportunity
Marin Council Recognition Dinner
March 13, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Every year, the Marin Council gives everyone in the council the opportunity to nominate Scouts and adults as their Scouts/Explorers/Volunteers of the Year. For both youth and adults, this is an opportunity to see the highlights of what Scouts are doing all over Marin

This dinner is solely to recognize youth and adults for their efforts and Scout spirit; it is not a fundraiser. The event is the Marin Council Recognition Dinner on March 13 in San Rafael. Registration is available by clicking the link.

Click the link above to sign-up. Come, enjoy a meal, and join with Scouts, friends, and leaders from all over Marin to see what is going on in Scouting here. You'll be amazed!
Shooting Sports News
There are several activities coming up!

Archery and BB Shooting Rangemaster Training

As many people know, the Marin Council runs shooting sports events all year long. For Cub Scouts, they can only participate when the council runs an event (such as, Family Fiesta, the Turkey/Bunny Shoots, or day camp). For archery, troops can enjoy this sport during one of their campouts at Tamarancho.

In order to staff the activities, the shooting sports committee often has to provide qualified people. However, the resource pool of those trained to do this is decreasing. We need your help. If you can become trained and help with one of these events during the year, the Scouts will be very grateful.

Archery Rangemaster Training
March 18, 8:30-5:00, Camp Tamarancho, $40
This is a National Archery Association Level 1 and BSA training

BB Shooting Rangemaster Training
April 1, 9:00-1:00, Camp Tamarancho, $30
This is Boy Scouts of America rangemaster training

Cub Scout Bunny Shoot

Similar to the Turkey Shoot held in October, this fun event is for Cub Scouts to enjoy archery and BB shooting. The date is April 15, and it will be held at Camp Tamarancho from 9:00-3:30. No, we will not be shooting bunnies!

With half-hour periods throughout the day, your Cub Scout will have the opportunity to experience one session of each of these activities. Click this link for a descriptive flyer and shooting sports release form.

When you click the link below to sign up, you will be given the opportunity to choose one half-hour period of each activity. THEN, return to the Marin Council web site to pay and download the shooting sports release form if you have not done so already. If you do not return to pay, your reservation will be dropped.

Family Fiesta

Scouts from around the World
May 19-21, Camp Tamarancho

What is Family Fiesta?     Family Fiesta is a family camping experience for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos, invited friends, and their families. This camp will introduce the Cub Scout and his family to some of the activities that can be experienced in our summer day camp programs. Just like at camp, events and activities are run by Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews. The Cub Scouts will get an opportunity to meet summer day camp staff and older Scouts, and as a bonus, they get an idea of all the fun and exciting things that await them when they become Boy Scouts and Venturers.

Theme and Activities     "Scouts from Around the World" will provide an opportunity for Scouts, siblings, and parents to learn and practice international Scout skills, crafts, and values-and maybe earn a patch from distant lands along the way. Marin Council troops and crews will lead campers in events ranging from field sports, climbing, nature hikes, shooting sports, techno craft, and international exploration. The day will close with a campfire program.

More information is on our web site and registration is only online, so click here for more information and to register.
