First Principles:
The Official Biography of Keith Duckworth, OBE
by Norman Burr

Foreword by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE

The names 'Keith Duckworth' and 'DFV' are practically synonymous, such is the reputation of the famous F1 racing engine which he designed.

Whilst there are books covering the technical aspects of the DFV engine, and other designs from Cosworth, the company which he founded with Mike Costin, there are many gaps in the story of Duckworth's career, before and after Cosworth. This book comprehensively fills those gaps, taking the reader into the world of Britain's finest 20th century engineers.

It was a world consisting of far more than motorsport, embracing an astonishing variety of mechanical devices, including aircraft, boats, and motorcycles - particularly Triumph, for whom he was a consultant during his retirement.

A man of strong convictions and high integrity, Keith Duckworth OBE cared passionately about his work, fitting almost every aspect of his life around it. His northern industrial roots, the ups and downs of his personal life, his health problems, and his generous support of charities and business start-ups, combine to create the story of one of motorsport's - and engineering's - most endearing and enduring characters. Hardcover | 252 pages | 200 color photos. $59.95 - Order HERE!

Tyler Alexander:
A Life and Times at McLaren
by Tyler Alexander
Foreword by Bernie Ecclestone

"Tyler was a man for all seasons; whether it was Formula One, Indy car racing, or Can-Am, he was at the forefront." -Jackie Stewart

Bruce McLaren. Denny Hulme. Peter Revson. Johnny Rutherford. Mario Andretti. Niki Lauda. Ayrton Senna. Lewis Hamilton. Tyler Alexander has worked with some of the greatest drivers in racing history, as well as such influential figures as Roger Penske, Bernie Ecclestone, Carl Haas, Paul Newman, and Adrian Newey.

In 'A Life and Times with McLaren', Tyler Alexander tells the story of his remarkable four-decade career. In 1964 he helped found the McLaren racing team along with Bruce McLaren and Teddy Mayer. As a mechanic, engineer, and team manager, Alexander played a key role in the development of McLaren's cars and the team's early successes in Formula One, the Indianapolis 500, and the Can-Am series.

After scoring Indianapolis 500 victories with driver Johnny Rutherford in 1974 and 1976, Alexander left McLaren in the early 1980s to join the new Mayer Motor Racing team. A decade later he returned to McLaren-in time to participate in the team's run of success in the late 1990s with drivers Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen. In 2008, his final year with the team saw McLaren score its most recent Formula One championship with brilliant newcomer Lewis Hamilton.

'A Life and Times with McLaren' tells what it was like to work with some of the greatest names in motorsport, and reveals the technical ingenuity, hard work, and luck required to sustain a successful team. The book is fully illustrated with hundreds of photographs, and includes testimonials and contributions from old friends like Mario Andretti, Roger Penske, and Jackie Stewart.

Bruce McLaren and the racing team he created have been the subject of many books, but none told in such detail from the inside. Required reading for McLaren fans, the book also covers Alexander's years with other teams, such as Mayer Motor Racing, Carl Haas's FORCE F1 team, and Newman/Haas Racing.

Universally respected within the racing community for his experience, work ethic, and honesty, Tyler Alexander deserves to be better known to a wider audience of fans. In 'A Life and Times with McLaren', Tyler tells his own story in his own unique style.

Alexander's 2013 book of photographs, 'McLaren from the Inside', is also available at The Motorsport Collector.

2015 TT Isle of Man - Official Review DVD

The Isle of Man TT 2015 fueled by Monster Energy was a record-breaking affair that had it all: sunshine, drama, excitement and a sensational comeback to rival Mike Hailwood's.

Anticipation was high before the start of the race with an entry list that was a veritable "Who's Who" of the World's elite road racers.

Any of the top ten or so riders were in with a chance of a win in any of the solo classes and there were plenty of quality sidecar crews determined to make an impression on the podium places.

No fans can have left the Isle of Man disappointed with what unfolded - surely TT 2015 proved to be one of the best meetings of the 21st Century, and maybe of all time?

Lap and race records tumbled throughout the week, there were new faces on the podium and some that fans might have thought would never been seen on the top step again.

For once the Isle of Man was blessed with wall-to-wall sunshine for race week and it led to some of the closest racing ever seen on the 37.73 mile public road Mountain Course as heroes of the road like John McGuinness, Ian Hutchinson, Guy Martin and Michael Dunlop got down to business.

Michael Argetsinger

Argetsinger Signing RA 2010
For those of you who may not have heard, Author Michael Argetsinger passed away last week. Michael's legacy includes some of the finest books on motor racing produced in the past decade. We have warm memories of the signings we hosted for him over the years. A founder of the International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen, Michael was the son of Jean and the late Cameron Argetsinger, the force behind the creation of the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Corporation and the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen.

Michael was one of the finest gentleman I've had the pleasure to meet in my 30+ years in this business.  We will miss him.
