February 2017
Greetings!

We have reached the midway point of our fiscal year and are on track with collections. Historically, last year was the best collection year to date, and we are on pace to surpass it.

As you know, February is a busy time for us, and we are working to ensure taxpayers have a number of ways to conveniently pay their property taxes. We currently have satellite locations and kiosks across the county and will also have mobile cashiers to accept payments and assist customers.

We recently announced that my office will be adding city-only tax sales for the City of Memphis. The first sale is expected to be held in the fall.

While we are working diligently on collections, our community initiatives are taking off as well. We recently started an eight-week business course called the Mindset of an Entrepreneur.  This is our second cohort of future business owners learning what it takes to create a successful venture. Meanwhile, Bank On Memphis is making inroads with the unbanked and underbanked in our community and working with over 2,500 youth to foster financial literacy.

Because of taxpayers like you, the financial health of Shelby County is in great shape, but there is always more work to be done. As stewards , we will continue working on your behalf, seeking meaningful solutions to make your tax dollars stretch further.

Here to serve,
