Attention Fourth Grade Students!!
Entries Due Dec 4 for the 2016-2017 Yearbook Cover
Here is your chance to leave your lasting mark on Middle Gate history! You are being asked to draw a picture that might be chosen to be the cover of this year's yearbook!
Our theme is a play on the "There's no place like home" theme from this year's Newtown Labor Day Parade:
There's No Place like Middle Gate
Use a piece of paper to draw your picture.
Please check each of the following to make sure you follow all of the rules for your entry:
- The picture should feature this year's theme: "There's No Place Like Middle Gate".
- All entries must include the year 2016-2017 in the picture as well as our school name.
- Make sure you put your name on the drawing.
- Use your neatest drawing and writing.
- Use only crayon, pencils, markers or colored pens
- Be creative and have fun!
All entries will be voted on and judged by the teachers and PTA.
The winner will have his or her drawing featured as the COVER of the 2016-2017 yearbooks.
All other entries will be used throughout the yearbook as well, if possible.

HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE - DEC 8 AND DEC 9
|
Classes will visit as well as open Friday Night until 8pm
The Holiday Shopping Boutique will be
Thursday, December 8th and Friday December 9th.
Teachers will sign up their classes for time to shop. The gifts will all be priced very reasonably, with the most expensive items being $5. This will include wrapping and labeling the gifts for the children to bring home.
Teachers will let the students know what the day and time is for their class and we will post the class schedules on Facebook. Any donations of wrapping paper, small/medium gift bags, tissue paper and scotch tape are greatly appreciated.
We will provide a volunteer spot link to sign up once we know the teacher schedules. In addition to the daytime hours when students are shopping with their class,
the Boutique will be open from dismissal until 8 p.m.on Friday evening in case parents would like to bring their children back or bring siblings to shop as well.

We are pleased to announce that once again your child will have the opportunity to participate in
Reflections,
a nationally sponsored PTA arts program! All children at Middle Gate School from
kindergarten through 4th grade are eligible
to submit an entry based on the theme "
What Is Your Story?
" in any or all of these categories: visual arts (drawing, collage, painting, etc.), musical composition, photography, literature (story, poem, essay, etc.), dance choreography, or film production.
This is a unique opportunity for self-expression and "reflection". ALL participants receive a Middle Gate certificate, and will have their work displayed at the school. First-Place winners (per division) continue on to the state level, and if chosen, could go on to the national level!

Seeking donations of items
Middle Gate Elementary School's PTA will be hosting a Silent Auction at our "Parent's Night Out" fundraiser. This fundraiser, held at Rock Ridge Country Club in Newtown, will raise money for the Middle Gate PTA. The PTA funds programs such as school assemblies, grade enrichment, and cultural arts programs. We have purchased smart board add-ons, picnic tables, shelves for classroom libraries, educational games, a shed for the Phys Ed department so they may purchase additional sports equipment. We are looking to make some great improvements for this year. Please help us achieve our goals for Middle Gate.
We are currently seeking donations of items and services to be auctioned off at the event. If you are able to donate please let us know. It doesn't matter how big or how small, all donations are gladly accepted and greatly appreciated.

Remember all the fun times throughout the year
All through the year, there will be different events and activities at Middle Gate school. The best way to preserve those memories is to submit them to the yearbook.
