Bike Patrol

The spring weather is here, and the Police Department is excited to announce the return of the Bike Patrol Unit!

These bike officers eagerly trade their cars for bicycles, making them more visible and accessible to the public. Patrolling and responding to issues in neighborhoods, parks, shopping centers, and other highly populated areas of the community allow them to interact with residents and get to know the people they serve. Stop over and say hello if you see the bike patrol out in your neighborhood!

Earth Day

Earth Day was on April 22nd, and Middletown wants you to join us in celebrating the planet! On Saturday, April 29th, all are invited to Core Creek Park from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for a fun day filled with family activities!

Throughout the event, guests will enjoy entertainment that includes musical performances, a balloon artist, a magician, a wiffle ball tournament, and dog agility shows. Food will also be available through Mr. D's Nomadic Kitchen. Many of the event's business partners will have tables where they will demonstrate environmentally conscious practices and have various givaways. Attendees will also be offered their own tree sapling to take with them!

The Environmental Advisory Committees of Middletown, Falls, Newtown, and Upper Makefield Townships as well as Hulmeville Borough join with Bucks County Parks and Recreation to bring this event to the community.

For more information, please see the event's Facebook page. This Earth Day celebration will occur rain or shine near Pavilion 2. We hope to see you there!

Take Back Collection Day

Are your cabinets filled with expired medications or prescriptions you no longer use? These drugs can cause serious health and safety risks if not disposed of properly. Turning them in at designated locations can prevent them falling into the wrong hands or polluting the environment.

A county-wide Take Back Day offers all residents the opportunity to safely dispose of their unwanted or expired drugs. This event will take place on Saturday, April 29th, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Middletown has three participating locations: Giant Pharmacy on New Falls Road, Target on East Lincoln Highway, and St. Mary Medical Center.

Please note that needles and illegal substances will not be taken. For further information, please see the event website  or call the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission at 215-444-2740.

If you are unable to participate in this event but have medications to drop off, a receptacle is always located in the lobby of the Municipal Center.

Police Commendations

Several members of the Middletown Township Police Department received public recognition at a recent Board of Supervisors meeting for accomplishments that went above and beyond the call of duty. Chief Joe Bartorilla presented each with an award and publicly recognized their accomplishments.

Detectives Andy Amoroso, Pat Nicastro, and Dave Strother joined Officers Corey Huff, Megan Freer, John Beck, Tom Leinheiser, Mark Leonhauser, and Jeff Swenson (plus his K9 Max!) in earning commendations for their actions while on duty. In each of these cases, these members of the Police Department stopped crimes in progress, recovered stolen items, identified or apprehended suspects, or removed drugs and firearms from the community. Chief Bartorilla praised each honoree for distinguished service and representing the high standards of the Police Department.

Roadside Mower

The Public Works Department has a new piece of equipment in use this spring - a roadside mower. This vehicle attachment was purchased this winter and will allow the Department to better maintain the area around roadways. Drivers can easily clear grass along a curb and trim tree branches vertically to enhance visibility. The Department expects that the roadside mower will be a valuable safety asset for the Middletown Community.
Sports Block Party

The annual Sports Block Party returns on Friday, May 5th to the Middletown Community Park! From 3 p.m. until 10 p.m., Neshaminy baseball, softball, and boys' and girls' lacrosse organizations will take the field together as Middletown celebrates spring sports. The event will also have entertainment for those on hand, including live music, mini-golf, and fundraising activities from the Middletown Skate Park Committee. Please join us for this exciting family event!
