Safety Day!

Middletown at the Mall returns next month as we celebrate Public Safety Day on Saturday, September 23rd! Join local emergency services at the mall for a day of games, exhibits, and safety education! Attendees will get to see rescue demonstrations, practice safety drills, meet local firefighters, and see firetrucks up close. The Police Department will also be on hand, bringing the child fingerprint ID machine as well as vehicles to explore. There will be plenty of giveaways and games as well!

Last year's event was a huge success, and the Township is excited to bring this event back to Oxford Valley Mall. Public Safety Day will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. See you on September 23rd!

New Registration Software

The Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce its new registration software! The new system will offer improved capabilities that will benefit residents and staff alike. The software will link to a website that will greatly simplify browsing, signing up, and paying for programs. As with the previous system, the website for registration will be available on the left-hand side of the Township website. The new website is expected to go live later this month and be available for Fall Recreation registration! Additional instructions for use of the new website will be detailed in the Fall Program Guide which will be sent to all residents.
Coffee with a Cop

Thank you to all who came out to meet local police officers at Coffee with a Cop! On the morning of August 8th, the Middletown Township Police Department hosted residents at the Oxford Valley Mall Food Court for an informal gathering over coffee and breakfast. Residents met with officers and commanders to discuss their concerns and get to know those charged with protecting them. Families in attendance also had the opportunity to have fingerprint IDs printed for their children.

"We are always grateful for opportunities to meet with the public somewhere in the community to have a relaxed, informal discussion about Middletown," said Chief Joe Bartorilla. "We appreciate feedback from the public and the chance to better connect with our citizens. Thank you to our hosts and all who attended Coffee with a Cop."

A Call for Volunteers!

Are you interested in joining a dedicated group of residents in helping and protecting your neighbors? The local fire companies and emergency rescue squad are looking for volunteers!

Volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians are just everyday people who want to help their neighbors. Men and women of all ages and walks of life band together to keep Middletown residents safe. Whether a home is on fire, someone is sick, or someone is stuck or injured in a car accident, the fire departments and rescue squad are on hand to help.

Middletown is served by four volunteer fire companies as well as the Penndel Middletown Emergency Squad. While much of what they do involves emergency response, volunteers are also needed for administrative purposes, maintenance, educational programming, and other non-emergency needs. NO PRIOR TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE is necessary to volunteer. Training will be provided!

If you are interested in giving back to the community by joining one of these organizations, please contact the Fire Marshal's Office at [email protected] or 215-750-3812.

Fan Favorite Float

Congratulations to McHale's Plumbing, winner of the 2017 Fourth of July Float Contest! McHale's were among the many participants in this years' parade. Since 2013, the Parade Committee has selected the fan-favorite float from the parade. A trophy with each winner's name is passed down every year to the next champion. McHale's Plumbing received the engraved trophy at the August 21st Board of Supervisors meeting. Please join us in congratulating them!
Successful Summer Recreation

Another great year of Summer Recreation has wrapped up, and the Parks and Recreation Department are thrilled with this year's success! Approximately 475 children registered for various times and locations, and an average of 250 attended daily. Participants enjoyed games, sports, arts, and nature activities on a daily basis while also taking part in field trips that included swimming, bowling, and skating. They even went to Pennsbury Manor and Sesame Place! Middle school-aged kids also participated in trips to Blue Mountain, Six Flags, and Ultrazone.

The Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank all of the families that participated as well as the counselors who worked diligently to provide a great experience for all attendees!
