Breakfast with the Board

February 2017 Breakfast with the Board
The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors wants to hear from you! Do you have questions or concerns about the Township? Would you enjoy a chance to discuss the community with elected officials over a cup of coffee? If so, join us at the Langhorne Speedway Diner (2029 Lincoln Highway, Langhorne) on October 10th between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. for Breakfast with the Board.

Breakfast with the Board returns for the final time in 2017. Don't miss this chance to speak to elected officials and Township staff in person. "This is a golden opportunity to address any questions or concerns with the Supervisors, Township Manager, and Department Directors," said Board Chairman Tom Gallagher. We hope to see you there for some great discussions about the community!

Fall Shred Event

Middletown Township is excited to once again partner with Inspire Federal Credit Union and the Oxford Valley Mall to bring a Fall Shred Event to the community! Identity theft affects millions of Americans each year and accounts for billions of dollars in losses. One of the best ways to protect yourself is to properly destroy any documents and papers that have sensitive information, such as account numbers, passwords, and social security numbers. Shredding paper yourself can be time consuming, but this event offers a great opportunity to save time and protect yourself from identity theft!

The Fall Shred Event will take place on October 7th from 9 a.m. to noon on the Woodbourne Road side of the Oxford Valley Mall Parking lot. Residents may bring up to three boxes of paper for the shredding trucks to destroy. We hope you take advantage of the simple, free opportunity to protect your personal information!

Ash Tree Infestation

Ash trees throughout the region are being killed by an invasive insect. As noted in past E-News articles, the Emerald Ash Borer is a highly destructive foreign species that deprives ash tress of water and nutrients. The Township has already taken steps to remove dead ash trees as well as treat some to prevent infestation.

For residents concerned about trees on their property, the best course of action is to have it inspected by a certified arborist. The arborist can assess any damage done and provide a recommended plan for either treatment or removal of the tree.

For additional information on the Emerald Ash Borer and how to identify ash trees, please visit the website for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources or refer to the past E-News articles from August 2015, February 2016, and July 2016.

National Preparedness Month

The Board of Supervisors has proclaimed Middletown's recognition of National Preparedness Month! This national awareness campaign from the Federal Emergency Management Agency aims to educate the population on the importance of emergency preparedness. This year's theme, "Disasters Don't Plan Ahead. You Can," highlights the importance of planning for an emergency before one occurs. Create a plan for communicating with family, gathering supplies, and transportation. Planning ahead can help you, your family, and the community be ready when a disaster strikes!

New Service Kiosk

Residents now have a new way to interact with the Township. A new kiosk in the lobby grants access to several internet-based services. Residents can use the kiosk to register for recreational programs or make Right to Know requests. They can also access the Township website and the Code of Ordinances. The touchscreen monitor was recently set up next to the cashier's window and is now fully operational. Check it out!
Fire Prevention with the Boy Scouts

On the evening of October 17th, the Fire Marshal's Office will host their annual education event for the local Boy Scouts. Township staff and local fire companies will instruct approximately 200 attendees on important elements of fire safety. Scouts will be able to earn badges while learning about fire investigations, Ham radios, vehicle accident rescues, campfire safety and many more important safety topics. They will also interact with trailers, props, and demonstrations to get hands-on practice of what they learn.
Development Update

More and more businesses are coming to Middletown, and developers have many projects throughout the Township that will bring exciting changes to the community. Some of these are at or near completion, while others are just beginning.

Towns Against Graffiti

Township residents have access to a great resource to help clean up the community - Towns Against Graffiti (TAG). TAG was formed in partnership with several municipalities in Lower Bucks County, and they respond to incidents of graffiti and litter in public areas.
