Citizen Summer School - Back to School Edition

Middletown Township has added one last Citizen Summer School program for 2018, and it covers a very important topic in the community - Risk Factors for Teens: How Parents Can Help. The event will be tomorrow, September 13th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Center.

Back-to-school can be a stressful transition for teens. The pressure of academics, extracurricular activities, and social concerns can weigh on even the most well-adjusted young people. At a time when addiction and suicide are far too common, it is important that parents and guardians are equipped to intervene with their teens early. The final 2018 Citizen Summer School session will focus on what to look for and how to help teens who are struggling as they return to school.

Topics will include:
  • Signs that your teen may be struggling with depression or anxiety
  • How to start a conversation about drug use and other high-risk behavior with your children
  • What resources are available to help teens and their parents
These topics and more will be covered by an expert panel with speakers from St. Mary Medical Center, the Neshaminy School District, the Neshaminy Coalition for Youth, and the Middletown Township Police Department.
  • Free Seminar with Take-Home Information
  • Light Refreshments Included
  • Free Babysitting Available
No registration required.

Community Shred Day

Middletown Township is excited to once again partner with Inspire Federal Credit Union and the Oxford Valley Mall to bring a Fall Shred Event to the community! Identity theft affects millions of Americans each year and accounts for billions of dollars in losses. One of the best ways to protect yourself is to properly destroy any documents and papers that have sensitive information, such as account numbers, passwords, and social security numbers. Shredding paper yourself can be time consuming, but this event offers a great opportunity to save time and protect yourself from identity theft!

The Fall Shred Event will take place on September 29th from 9 a.m. to noon in the Oxford Valley Mall parking lot. Residents may bring up to three file boxes of paper for the shredding trucks to destroy. We hope you take advantage of this simple, free opportunity to protect your personal information!

Public Safety Day

Middletown at the Mall returns this month as we bring you Public Safety Day on Saturday, September 22nd! Join local emergency services at the Sears Court in the Oxford Valley Mall for a fun afternoon of games, exhibits, demonstrations, and safety information!

Attendees will get to meet the police K-9 teams as well as local firefighters and emergency medical technicians while getting to explore fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. The event will also include rescue demonstrations, safety drills, and lots of giveaways and games.

The Township is excited to bring this event back to the mall! Public Safety Day will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Indoor Marketplace

The Township is seeking vendors for the upcoming Indoor Marketplace.

The third annual Indoor Marketplace will feature vendors, food, and music at the Community Center on Trenton Road. Residents are welcome to get in some shopping for the holidays from local vendors. Proceeds from the event will benefit participants of the Shop with a Cop and Send a Child to Summer Rec programs, both of which help financially disadvantaged children and their families.

The Indoor Marketplace will take place on Saturday, November 17th, from noon to 4 p.m.
Any vendors interested in participating should contact Officer Melissa Robison at [email protected].
Fall Volunteer Opportunity

The Middletown Citizens' Service Corps (MCSC) is looking for volunteers for Fall Service Saturday.

The MCSC helps seniors and residents with disabilities with everyday household tasks. Tasks that most of us take for granted can cause serious problems for people with physical limitations.

From 9 a.m. to noon on November 17th, volunteers will help with tasks including cleaning a yard, changing smoke detector batteries, replacing hard-to-reach light bulbs, flipping over mattresses, and removing window air conditioner units.

Volunteers as well as requests for work are both still being accepted. Prospective volunteers should email [email protected], and those in need of help can contact Lydia at 215-945-2920.

Shop with a Cop

The Middletown Township Police Department is still raising funds for Shop with a Cop. Anyone interested in helping disadvantaged children and their families for the holidays can do so by donating through the Middletown Community Foundation. Every dollar donated goes directly to children in need to help them bring joy to their families for the holidays. More information for this great cause is available in the July eNews.

For any questions, please contact Officer Melissa Robison at [email protected].
