 Happy Earth Day!

While everyone is looking forward to April Vacation, we certainly have managed to accomplish a lot this week!

This week we celebrated  a Service Learning Project organized by our 6th Year Students. Kindness Week  provided staff, students and visitors the chance participate in acknowledging acts and words of kindness shared here at School. Some of the most touching notes about kindness will be displayed at our 2017 Leadership Fundraising Breakfast on May 2nd, the MFCS Foundation's largest fundraiser of the year which brings together members of the greater Manchester area to celebrate and support our School.

On Tuesday morning, we welcomed the Department of Education's Charter Renewal TeamThey spent time with staff, students and parents exploring our public Montessori program. Student ambassadors welcomed the team and took some time to share their experiences at Mill Falls. Other students demonstrated Montessori materials and still another read a passage from a long-form narrative he is working on. We also had several tables displaying student work from the last year. A special thanks to the Parents, Staff and Trustees, who met with the visiting team and helped provide them with a great sense of life at Mill Falls. The Charter Renewal Team will now review the extensive application and related documents we have provided and review their visit notes as they make their recommendation to the Commissioner and Board of Education. It was an honor to host the Team and a pleasure to share our work.

On Thursday, Opera NH visited, providing a beautiful and melodic sampling of opera - a wonderful introduction to the art form. Mr. Adam, our Music Teacher prepared the students for the performance in advance of the groups appearance yesterday. The students responded with grace and kindness and applause. There were even some special guest MFCS performers! "Bravo!" could be heard throughout the School!

On Thursday we also received a generous donation of 4 Soccer Goals from Alan Foy and his team at GPS New Hampshire.  GPS provides a professional level youth soccer program for enthusiastic and talented children seeking to maximize their talents and be provided opportunities for competition and exposure at the highest levels. They offer high quality coaching, elite partnerships and unique training and playing opportunities. If you're interested in exploring their program over April Vacation, click here to view the flyer about their Vacation Camp.

And today we celebrated  Earth Day! Usually, we observe the day by cleaning the grounds around our school building. But with unwelcoming weather, we had to shift modes slightly. There will still be time spent talking about conservation methods and ways to care for our amazing planet, but this year, students will make a mini-garden, learning how to plant seeds and care for them. HUGE shout out to Ms. Melissa who organized this activity. Students will bring home their seedlings today and we hope that each of you will find a corner of the earth to plant today's project.  Seeds today, flowers tomorrow!

As we look forward, we note that the months of May and June will be full of lessons, field trips, community days like Field Day, and Graduation for our 6th Year students. Please see below for several of those important dates.

We are looking for volunteers who will be in town over April Break and are willing and able to lend a hand. We will be stenciling games onto the sidewalk and cement (as long as Mother Nature works with us!), and need a small but mighty team of people who can help!

Can you lend a hand?
Please  and please also note what days during the Vacation Week you are available.

 Thanking our Top Sellers!

Last month we worked together as a Community to raise $10,000 for our school with sales of our 2017 Calendar Raffle! It took many people working together to make the fundraising effort a success. We've thanked the adults involved many times, so today we'd like to acknowledge the hard work of our students.

This morning, Calendar Coordinator, Lisa Z, pulled the names of the Top Student Calendar Sellers. Amelia Z. sold 33 calendars this year and won the Breathe NH Fun Pass Booklet.

We had many students who sold 10 or more calendars this year. The randomly selected winners from that group are: Will H who won the Milk & Cookies Basket and Tyler C who won the Ben & Jerry's Gift Basket.

Again our heartfelt thanks to all!
