Progress & Gratitude
Thank you to our amazing staff and families for another fantastic Parent-Teacher Conference Day. Connecting with parents, sharing the strides and struggles, the competencies and the complexities is what our Parent-Teacher Conference Days are all about. The day is designed to strengthen the ties that link parents/guardians, students and teachers together and we hope that those of you who attended Conference Day now have a deeper understanding of our unique setting and the hard work undertaken by students and staff every day.

Today in backpacks we are sending home the results of the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) - the standardized tests taken by public school students throughout the state of NH and beyond. Students took these assessments last spring and will sit for those assessments again this year in April. Should you have any questions about the results, please contact your classroom teacher.

Earlier this week, Mill Falls took part in the 50th Anniversary of the Bean Foundation. As a past-recipient of the Foundation's generous support of our program, students and staff were invited to attend the celebration which was held at the Palace Theater. Grant recipients of over 20 non profits from our area took to the stage, simply stating the name of their organization - all beamed with gratitude as they passed the microphone along. Our own Upper Elementary Students, Mohamed and Elias, represented MFCS at the event. Thanks boys!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Next week each Program Level will mark this holiday in their own fashion. Our Kinder students will have a simple community meal. Each Lower Elementary Classroom will explore the history of the holiday. Our Upper Elementary Students and Teachers will come together for a Thanksgiving Feast which will feature traditional food prepared and donated by Upper Elementary Families. The children will prepare the tables and eat together in a joyous gathering. Stay tuned for pictures and details of all of this next week!

A reminder that we will begin our Thanksgiving Day Break on Wednesday. School will be closed from Wednesday, November 22nd through Friday, November 24th.

We are so very thankful to our incredible staff, Trustees, Foundation members, families, funders, friends and partners. It takes a village to sustain our public Montessori school.  Wishing everyone in our MFCS Family a happy and healthy holiday weekend.

Ongoing Facility Update...
This week, work continued at 100 William Loeb Drive with the most visible work being done on the new driveway/ parking area being created for the Union Leader Newspaper's new offices which will be toward the back of the building. Additionally, there has been work going on indoors as those office spaces are being renovated.

We have been provided the following update in relation to upcoming work over the next week or so:
  • Work to alleviate the poor drainage impacting our sidewalk and entry area over the last few years will begin soon. We are told we can expect to still be able to access our front door in the usual fashion, and utilize the sidewalk. This work is expected to begin during the later part of the week of November 27th.
  • There will also be some additional tree removal, but the date and details have not yet been confirmed.
As more updates become available, we will continue to inform you. We appreciate your continued patience, understanding and support as we navigate the construction challenges which may occur over the next months.
Share the Warmth

Our Annual
Fall Coat Drive begins
 Monday, November 20th!

Starting Monday, November 20th, we will be collecting gently used or new hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and winter coats. We will be donated collected clothing to Families in Transition which recently merged with New Horizons. Together they work with individuals and families in need of food, clothes, home goods and housing. Thank you in advance for sharing what you can with those in need.
Supporting MFCS' Food Pantry
We Are Now Accepting
Food Donations!

Every day there are donations large and small delivered to our front office. Your response has been wonderful, and we thank the many families who have already responded to our call for food donations in support of our MFCS Food Pantry.

Your donations are helping to make it possible for to to send food home each week with children whose families are in need. Although we partner with the NH Food Bank to stock our Pantry, shopping for food items is not without cost.

This week we will be sending our Food Pantry participants home with some extra items to help them during the Holiday Break. If you can donate fresh fruits or vegetables on Monday, we will be sure to send them home with our students for the extended holiday weekend. We will aim to do this each time there are breaks in our usual school schedule.

Please help us bridge the gap for our food insure families!

We will be accepting food for our pantry throughout the year, and thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness!
