When press end systems were first introduced into the market, it marked the first time in over 100 years that a new joint would be used in commercial construction. The proven performance and industry standards surrounding NPT and solder end joints was well known. A press joint had no such history, and the development of our UltraPress valves needed to be proven in the lab to be certain that they would deliver the service expected from our products. To do this, we developed several testing methods beyond a simple pressure test making absolutely certain that our products would perform. We duplicated installation issues and service life scenarios in the lab before ever considering putting this product into the market. Our testing guided us to create designs that are robust and will provide years of satisfactory service.
That development led to the very successful launch of our first UltraPress product back in 2007. Since that time the line has grown in size range, product types, options, and accessories to support our changing industry. The low lead regulations that took effect in several states in 2010 and nationally in January, 2014 led to a second generation of products which, due to the new alloy, all needed to go through that same level of rigorous testing. Today we offer valves in both leaded and low lead alloys. All of our ball valves accept our standard options packages including memory stops, extension stems, locking handles, and The Insulator extension handle with built in memory stop to prevent condensation.
Because you need other valve types as well, we have developed a press adapter that allows any threaded (1/2" to 2") valve we produce to leave the factory press ready. The adapters were developed using our same design and testing methods described earlier. New assembly equipment has been designed and installed to ensure that when ordered with press ends, the valves are assembled and tested in our factory before ever getting to your job site. Utilizing a P2 suffix for press by press valves, and P1 suffix for Press by NPT valves makes the ordering process easy.
To meet your requirements and make your selection process even easier, we will be releasing our UPBA-480B Ultra Pure low lead press ball valves sizes 2 ½" - 3" in early December, and a 4" in January 2016.
