Meet Our 2011 Miracle Kids

Five emblems of hope will shine brightly at Golisano Children's Hospital's Miracle Weekend, set for Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4. A baby comes into the world without a heartbeat. A toddler from China is given a second chance at life. As a boy's immune system wreaks havoc on itself, his family finds an expert with answers. A teenage girl learns to be true to herself as cancer takes a toll on her body. An adolescent boy finds new hope as a talented surgeon steps up to fix his heart. Tune into the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Telethon on News 10 NBC from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, June 3, and 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, to meet the families and hear from others who have been touched by the hospital, including some of our 2011 Miracle Makers. To make a donation, call (585) 241-KIDS during designated hours or donate online.

Stroll for Strong Kids Nearly 200 teams have already committed to join forces and support this year's western-themed Stroll for Strong Kids and 5K Run, which will begin with on-site registration at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the University or Rochester's River Campus. Visit the Stroll page for more information, or register online today.
Each team has a story and a unique reason for participating in the hospital's biggest community fundraiser of the year. Here's what two Stroll team captains had to say about why they walk:
"My son, Sean Bowen, was diagnosed with leukemia on November 2, 1990. This year he celebrates his 25th birthday and 20 years cancer-free, thanks to Golisano Children's Hospital...I guess our personal theme this year will be to give thanks to all who were involved in Sean's life and success." - Rhonda
Bowen, Sean's Posse

"Every single doctor and nurse in the NICU deserves the biggest medal they can get. There was not one person we didn't meet that wasn't caring, loving and focused on all our needs and wants...
As a little thank you this is going to be our second year participating in the Stroll for Strong kids where we are focusing on all our donations going to the NICU." - Cheryl DiFlorio, Double Trouble
