Raising Lazarus...

Miracle or resurrection, or could there be another view or option?

It is my pleasure to be with you this Sunday in Water's Edge as we examine the familiar story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Read John 11:17-27, 38-44

I want to invite you to read this story as a resurrection story not just a miracle story.
Lazarus gets his life restored to him; his physical life. But I believe Jesus offers us more than physical life. The prologue to John's gospel says, "In him was Life"....what kind of life are we talking about here?

Life in a very different sense is what Jesus offers to us, but what will accepting that life entail. Mary and Martha think the resurrection is in heaven... is that your view too? What if there is another option? Come and explore these questions as we view the story with a wider lens.

Run the Race Ministry Sunday, September 8
A heads-up and Call-to-Action
Run the Race Ministry Fair
Run the Race is the theme for this year's Ministry Sunday. It's an opportunity to learn more about all the ministries and their activities here at First Church.

This year, Water's Edge will be present with our own table. It's clear that many people in the congregation know very little about our worship in the Cove, so let's change that. We'll need some help from the enthusiastic folks in WE. to man the table that day. Contact Lollo for more information.

Always - Remember to bring cans of food!

W.E. CAN

One of the goals for the Water's Edge congregation this year is to support our
First Church Food Ministry: Loaves and Fishes. Besides canned food items, milk, eggs, and bread are always welcome. You may leave your donations in The Cove, or in Linder Hall.

Our service is low-key, non-traditional with weekly communion, open to everyone.
The band plays original Christian and traditional praise music. And it's ok to applaud.
