House approves bill to defund Planned Parenthood
The U.S. House voted today to halt the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. H.R. 3762 places a one-year freeze on certain federal payments to the abortion giant, and blocks at least 89 percent of Planned Parenthood's federal funding. The final vote count was 240-189 with all six Missouri Republicans voting yes; both Democrats voted no. The measure now heads to the U.S. Senate.

Abortion supporters claim that funding PP is necessary for women's health care, but when PP is defunded with our federal tax dollars, women will have at least  588 places to go for a broader range of high quality health care services.

Zina Hackworth to Present at MRL Statewide Leadership and Annual Membership Meeting
The Missouri Right to Life Statewide Leadership and Annual Membership meeting will be held November 14th in Pleus Hall at Immaculate Conception Parish, 1208 E. McCarty, in Jefferson City. The gathering starts at 9:30 with the meeting starting promptly at 10:00 am.

The highlight of the meeting will be a presentation by Zina Hackworth. Zina is an adoptive/biological stay-at-home, home-schooling mom of 13. She attended the University of Buffalo where she met her husband of nearly 30 years.

Zina is an active, passionate "Professional Pro-Life Volunteer". She is a member of L.E.A.R.N, the nation's largest black Pro-Life organization. She is also a member of The National Black Pro-Life Coalition. Zina has volunteered with pro-Life organizations such as Missouri Right to Life, Missouri Blacks for Life, Life Education and Resource Network (L.E.A.R.N.), Our Lady's Inn, ThriVe St. Louis, 40 Days for Life and others.

In 2006, Zina founded "This Race Will Self-Destruct", a mother-daughter abstinence, pro-life workshop for black adolescent girls. Zina will educate us on the devastating impact of abortion on the African-American community and give us insights into how the black community feels about abortion and how to engage, educate and motivate them.

In addition, we will have extensive information about the Missouri legislative investigations into Planned Parenthood and what has resulted from the hearings. As always we will have updates on future legislation and activities going on in the federal arena as well. There will also be a separate presentation by the MRL PAC on the 2016 election.

Lunch will be provided for a goodwill offering. All are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to [email protected] or call 573-635-5110.
