Join Missouri Right to Life, and other pro-life leaders, organizations and individuals from across the state for the annual Show Me Life Pro-Life Action Day at the state capitol this Tuesday, March 13!

- Thank them for their past support and encourage them to continue pass pro-life laws that protect women, unborn children, elderly, and disabled to ensure their inherent dignity and right to life.

Legislative Update - March 2, 2018

House and Senate Floor Action This Week:
This week in the House your Representatives took up and passed two bills for Life!

The first pro-life bill to pass the Missouri House this week was HB 1383, sponsored by Rep. Rocky Miller. HB 1383 requires that there be two-parent notification prior to a minor having an abortion. HB 1383 passed the House by a vote of 113 to 37 and now moves to the Senate for action.

The second bill to pass the Missouri House that includes a pro-life provision is HCS HB's 1288, 1377 & 2050, sponsored by Rep. Kevin Engler. HCS HB's 1288, 1377 & 2050 is an omnibus benevolent tax credit bill that includes the extension of the current pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes tax credits. The proposed increase of the tax credits was moved to 2020 for consideration because of current budget concerns. HCS HB's 1288, 1377 & 2050 passed the House by a vote of 121 to 27 and now moves to the Senate for action.

NOTE: HCS HB's 1288, 1377 & 2050 is the companion bill to SCS SB's 632 & 675 as amended on the Senate floor. SCS SB's 632 & 675 was perfected on the Senate floor on Tuesday, February 27 and needs one more vote to move to the House.

Committee Hearings this week in the House and Senate included:
The Senate Insurance and Banking Committee held an Executive Session Tuesday, February 27 on SB 879, sponsored by Senator Paul Wieland. SB 879 was voted Do Pass by the committee. SB 879 allows enrollment in a health benefit plan by a pregnant person under certain circumstances.

The House Rules Committee on Legislative Oversight held an Executive Session Wednesday, February 28 on HB 1266, sponsored by Donna Lichtenegger. HB 1266 bans abortions after 20 weeks gestation when the baby can feel pain during an abortion. This bill is known as, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
