Missouri Right to Life's Position on Stem Cell Research
Recent stories and editorials make assertions about Missouri Right to Life (MRL) and our goals concerning the investigations of Planned Parenthood and university-based research on stem cells.
...
MRL strongly supports ethical stem-cell investment, including state dollars, and encourages Economic Development that does not depend on life-ending forms of research. However, MRL continues to oppose human cloning and research that kills living embryos in the name of research.

We call upon our state officials, candidates, university leaders, business interests, and those involved in lobbying like the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and the Missouri Biotechnology Association (MOBIO) to join our efforts to help Missouri grow. Let's unite in our desire for advances using ethical forms of stem-cell therapies. Let us finally write into statute a ban on tax dollars for research that kills human embryos. We can protect Life AND build our economy with ethical options... read more

A Message for MRL Members and Supporters
When reporters question Missouri Right to Life on any "stem cell research" we specifically, every time, point out that while Missouri Right to Life opposes embryonic stem cell research and human cloning (SCNT) we do not oppose adult stem cell research.  We further explain, every time, that adult stem cell research can include research done with umbilical cord blood, nasal tissue and fat tissue from our own bodies.

This was specifically pointed out to Mr. Keller in his interview with MRL Legislative Liaison, Susan Klein regarding research being done at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mr. Keller apparently had his own agenda.

So, when you read any "stem cell research" articles that includes quotes from Missouri Right to Life leaders and they do not include these facts about research, you can know that the reporter in question has a separate agenda than our fight to save innocent human lives.

Gubernatorial Candidates Weigh in on Stem Cell Research
In a statement issued by his campaign this week, Republican candidate for governor, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, voiced his support for a ban on public funding for embryonic stem cell research.

Former House Speaker and U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway and retired businessman John Brunner, both also seeking the Republican nomination for governor, made similar statements.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Chris Koster, the only major Democratic candidate for governor in 2016, released a statement of support for killing babies at the earliest stages of development for scientific research.
