Missouri Lifeline 4/17/15

Legislative Update
While we are thankful for the hearing on HB 190, the abortion clinic inspection bill, we only have four weeks left in the 2015 legislative session to pass this and other substantive legislation that will save innocent human lives. While Kansas was the first state in America last week to pass a ban on dismemberment abortions, Oklahoma became the second state in the nation to pass the ban on dismemberment abortions! Great job Kansas and Oklahoma!

Highlights of the Week:
HB 190 - The abortion clinic inspection bill which changes the laws regarding the protection of women's health care.  HB 190 was heard in the Senate Veterans' Affairs and Health Committee on Thursday, April 16th.  Sponsor: Kathy Swan
Testimony in Support of HB 190 Before the Senate Veteran's Affairs and Health Committee: http://missourilife.org/legislation/2015/hb190a.html

SB 24 - The House and Senate gave their final approval to CCS HCS SS #2 SCS SB 24 which modifies provisions of law relating to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The House and Senate kept the additional 2% of funding for the Alternatives to Abortion Program. Missouri Right to Life supported this additional funding for the Alternatives to Abortion Program. Sponsor: Sen. David Sater and Rep. Diane Franklin

Calls Needed on SB 466 & 422 - Simon's Law
Please call President Pro-Tem Tom Dempsey and Senator Eric Schmitt and let them know that you would like them to pass SB 466 & 422, Simon's Law to ensure that do-not-resuscitate orders are not placed in a minor child's medical file without the parent's knowledge. Be sure and thank them for working to pass this bill!
