Be prepared when traveling in Missouri. Read the Weekly Missouri Trucking Corridor Report!
Each week, MoDOT Motor Carrier Services provides a list of locations where highway and bridge maintenance work might impact CMV driver's progress on major trucking corridors for the following week or two.

You might notice changes in the information or layout of this list as we receive your feedback and learn from experience. Your comments are welcome at [email protected] .

Urgent announcements and information appearing in the report for the first time this week is written in red.
Interstate 44

Minor Impacts - Watch for striping operations. These have been delayed by recent rains.

Upcoming Impacts - July 13 - September
I-44 just west of the I-270 interchange in St. Louis at the Meramec River. Starting with the eastbound lanes, one lane- will be closed at all times as the bridge is completely redecked. When the eastbound bridge is complete, single lane closures will occur in the westbound lanes for the duration of the project.
Expect delays during commuter rush hours, Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Interstate 70

Intermediate Impact - Single, 12' wide lane of travel.

Westbound Lane

Saline County just west of the I-70/US 65 Jct

Mile Marker 77

Eastbound Lane
Reduced to a single, 12' lane

Saline County, west of the I-70/US 65 Jct. Mile Marker 77

NOTE: On Friday afternoon/evening and Sunday afternoon/evening, traffic increases significantly in this area. Delays of up to an hour can be expected during high volume periods. Motorists who must travel this way are encouraged to use both lanes up to the merge point and take turns entering the open lane.

If you would like to avoid the area altogether, MoDOT suggests the following alternate routes for CMVs:

WEST to EAST

I-70 to I-470 South to US 50 East to US 65 North to I-70 East

I-70 to Mo-13 South (2-lane) to US 50 East to US 65 North to I-70 East

I-70 to I-435 to I-29 to US 36

EAST to WEST

I-70 to US 63 South to US 50 West (some sections 2-lane) to I-470 North to I-70

I-70 to US 63 North to US 36 West to I-29 South to I-435 South to I-70

Intermediate to Major Impact - Single Lane of EB Traffic - MM 24-25 - Jackson County at Sni-A-Bar Creek.

Beginning Late July 8, eastbound traffic will be down to one 16' lane. Westbound traffic will follow suit the following week.

Expect significant delays, especially during commuter rush hours and on Friday and Sunday evenings.
Eastbound Alternate: US 50 to US 65 to US 70

Westbound Alternate: US 54, US 63 or US 65 (last exit) to US 24.

Interstate 64

Temporary Intermediate Impact - Fair St. Louis
Expect heavy traffic near Forest Park in St. Louis (MM 34-36) on July 2,3 and 4. The area is likely to be completely congested each evening around 10 pm, following nightly fireworks.
The Fair was moved to this location because of work at the traditional downtown riverfront site.

Interstate 29

Intermediate Impact - MM 5-12 - Kansas City Metro
Lane reductions, narrowed lanes and ramp closures as 12 bridges are repaired this summer.

Suggested alternates - I-435 and US 69

Minor Impact - MM 75 - Holt County
No access is available to or from U.S. 59 at this junction through mid-August.  Use the I-29/US 59 junction at I-29's MM 67 instead.

Interstate 270

Major Impact - July 10 start

MM 27-30 - Eastbound traffic will divert to the ramps at both the Route N (MM 27) and Route AC (MM 30) exits. Westbound traffic will be diverted to the eastbound lanes. Cross traffic will be blocked at the ramp intersections.
Three westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes will be open at all times.
Expect congestion, confused drivers and slow movement on the approach and while passing through the work area.

Consider alternates including I-70, I-170 and I-255.

Other Impacts

US 60 at Mo. Route 43  - Seneca, Mo. - Near OK border
In early July, a 4-way flashing yellow traffic signal will be replaced with a red flash at the  intersection of US 60 and Mo. Route 43. Both US 60 and Mo.  Route 43 traffic MUST STOP once the flashing red signal operates.
In addition, the speed limit in the area will be reduced to 55 mph.

US 36
- Northwest Missouri
Platte River, just east of St. Joseph. Bridge reconstruction.
Head-to-head traffic - one lane in each direction. Through October.

Mo. Route 125 east of Springfield is often used to connect between US 60 and I-44. This popular shortcut is closed to through traffic for bridge repair until this fall. Use US 65 or US 160 instead.

Moving Work Zones - Statewide

Other, less impactful work might slow traffic temporarily - such as nighttime pavement repair and crack sealing that is taking place on most major routes. When encountering crews mowing medians and roadsides, please move over a lane if it is safe to do so.

Throughout Missouri, crews of slow-moving striping operations are repainting fog lines and lane stripes. These vehicle groups often travel under the speed limit. Drive carefully around the entire train of vehicles. For your safety and theirs, do not cross lanes between the vehicles.
