Special July Hours

The main library and the Farms branch will be closed for the entirety of the Independence Day (July 4th) weekend: Friday, July 3; Saturday, July 4; and Sunday, July 5 (the Farms branch is always closed on Sundays). Both locations will re-open with normal hours on Monday, July 6.

Our Summer Reading program "Every Hero Has a Story" kicks off on Tuesday, June 23! This month, we've also got our annual Lawn Party on Saturday, June 13; "Pre-School Music with Dara," and our June art exhibit, "Generations."

Summer Reading 2015
School's (almost) out for summer, and that means it's time to read! We have multiple copies of all the books on Briscoe Middle School?s and Beverly High School?s reading lists. Please see our FAQ list for answers to all your summer reading questions.

Register for the "Unmask!" Teen Summer Reading Program by July 31  for opportunities to win great prizes! Sign up @ the teen table during Summer Reading Sign Up Night on Wednesday, June 24 from 6:30 to 8 PM. There are more ways to register - details will be posted soon on our Teens page

Summer Reading
The main library kicks off the children's Summer Reading program, "Every Hero Has a Story," on Wednesday, June 24 from 6:30 to 8 PM. Learn how to earn tickets for the Topsfield Fair, pick up your summer reading packet, and enjoy some ice cream (thanks to Captain Dusty's!!). We've got lots of additional  great programs coming up in June - Explore the Kids Page to learn more. 

LGBTQ Book Discussion

Join our inaugural LGBTQ Book Group during Pride Month and the ALA's GLBT Book Month?! Come be a part of this exciting addition to Beverly?s book groups. It's free and open to all - bring your ideas and enthusiasm. This first meeting takes place in the Sohier Room (main library) on Monday, June 15 @ 7 PM

"A Quiet Corner of the War"

In 2002, Ohio resident Judy Cook discovered a packet of letters written by her great-great-grandparents, Gilbert and Esther (Colby) Claflin, during the Civil War. The letters offer fascinating glimpses into Gilbert's camp life behind Union lines and Esther's life back on the family farm, raising two teenage boys. Join Judy Cook and her husband Dennis o Monday, June 8 for  a 1-hour program featuring excerpts from the letters and songs of the period.         

Free Courtyard Concerts 

"Summer Sounds," our free outdoor concert series featuring local musicians, will return for a 2nd season with a lineup featuring a great variety of family-friendly musical sounds - from folk to rock, and acoustic to a barber shop quartet! The series kicks off Wednesday, July 8 at 6 PM with Adrienne Howard and Linda Swicker on fiddle and strings. Concerts will run weekly through July and August.
