Matthew Gomez, Operations Manager
Originally from the cold climate of Colorado, Matthew’s family moved to Phoenix when he was just a toddler. Living life in the valley of the sun for 29 years, he (proudly) considers himself an Arizona native.
Matthew’s career was off to a great start in 2006 as he began working in home interiors, specializing in garage doors and fireplaces. From that experience, Matthew learned a lot about the hearth industry and brought that knowledge with him to the Modern Flames family in 2012. When we asked about his “why” he replied, “My dad inspired me. My dad, Richard Gomez enjoyed a career in the industry as well, and at the family table, he’d share stories about his day. I didn’t realize then that I’d follow in his footsteps, but I’m pleased it turned out that way, as he’s one of my biggest role models.”
The hearth industry is ever-evolving and Matthew loves being part of and having input on the innovative products Modern Flames is bringing to market. His knowledge, experience and passion earned him the title of Operations Manager. His excitement is contagious as he motivates himself and others to work hard (and smart!) He’s a valuable member of our close-knit family.
In his off time, Matthew appreciates the great outdoors. He loves to hunt, camp, fish, and hike. His family and friends are most important to him, and he also spends a lot of time with his dog Handsome Jack, a Queensland Heeler. A lover of all music, he favors country western and can frequently be found enjoying a little country two-steppin’ on the weekend!!
