Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this class, participants will be able to:
 

  • Describe key components of a safety program and discuss the importance of proper safety management
     
  • Analyze your department's current structure and identify ways to improve the level of professionalism in your agency
     
  • List at least three best practices and/or creative solutions for improving safety and professionalism in public works
Module Two:
Promoting Professionalism  & Creating a Safety Culture in Your Agency
A CT Transportation Leadership Program REQUIRED Workshop
This module will discuss the importance of safety and professionalism in public works and will focus on how leadership is the key to success in these areas.  Individual and group exercises will be used to illustrate key concepts.  You will return to your agencies with an understanding of how to identify areas for improvement and practical strategies for enhancing your skills and those of your staff.
Course Instructors

Bill Eyberse is the Lead Instructor of Signal 54 Training and has been teaching for our Center since 2002.  He has over 30 years of experience in the transportation industry and conducts training across the region on operational safety and winter maintenance topics .

Sally Katz is Director of Physical Services for the Town of Wethersfield and has an extensive background in management and operations.  She is also an instructor for our Public Works Academy.
