News You Can Use:
Please check to make sure you received the "News You Can Use" email last Thursday
(Sept. 1). It includes the following: a cover letter from President Carlos Bell, the report of the Organizational Design Work Group that was received by the board, and the revised Bylaws. In addition, it provides you with an email address for you to send all comments and concerns. We'll work to provide a summary of feedback each week in this space.
And More News You Can Use:
Sorry for the delay - we thought the Salary Survey would be available last week, but it is coming. Watch your email this week for the results of the 2016 Salary Survey!

A Poem for Reflection: "Cathedral Builders" by John Ormond
This poem came to mind as I was thinking about Labor Day, especially in an age where wages for so many are flat, the work of hands is often maligned as a lesser calling, and political rhetoric seems to have forgotten a notion of the common good. As you walk about your town, community or neighborhood this holiday, look for the cocked squint eye - and perhaps a sense of pride.
A Resource from ACPE Supervisor Koshin Paley Ellison:
The book, Awake at the Bedside: Contemplative Teachings on Palliative and End-of-Life Care, isn't a book about dying. It's about life and what life has to teach us. It's about caring and what giving care really means.
