To the LARCP faculty and staff and our friends who receive the Monday Memo -

Thank you for a year full of wonderful accomplishments. It is a joy to work with creative and passionate people who care deeply about our students and your chosen professions. It is exciting to think about all of the opportunities that await us in 2015. I wish each of you warm and restful holidays.

The LARCP office will be closed December 24 - January 5.

Rachel and Jody will be back in the office on January 5. Stephanie will return on January 7. Courtney will be in on January 7 and 9 to wrap up her projects (see below for her exciting news).

ANNOUNCEMENTS

In the spirit of the holidays, let's give one another a gift of something to enjoy. If you are inclined (to share what you appreciate or just to humor Stephanie), please provide a link to a website, news feed, jpeg, mpg or other digital creation (or a file that is under 5 MB for Courtney to link) that inspires you along with 2-3 sentences about why you make time to enjoy it. Send your info to Courtney by the January 9 and we'll include the list in the next week's MM and SC.

For ASLA members interested in social justice: Design Workshop's Kurt Culbertson and Kathleen King convened a panel discussion at the 2014 ASLA Annual Meeting concerning the topic of environmental justice and landscape architecture.  The session was titled "Social Justice: The New Green Infrastructure" and also included Anne Spirn, Randy Hester, and Diane Jones. Many session attendees and others interested in the topic have reached out to the panel for follow-up discussions and concerns about ASLA's interest in issues of social and environmental justice. As a result of all the enthusiasm for this topic, they are petitioning the ASLA Executive Committee for the establishment of an Environmental Justice Professional Practice Network. You may read the draft petition here. Please email kking@DesignWorkshop.com and

if you would like your name added to the petition.
