Happy first Monday of November! As the temperature drops, you can image how difficult it is for people without a place to sleep to find shelter from the bitter cold. Since October 15, our Cold Weather Shelter has been open to the community seeking shelter when the temperature drops below 32 degrees. Thank you for your generous support that allows us to serve the community in this way.
Not Good-Bye ... But See You Soon!
At the end of September, City Mission said a bittersweet farewell to long-standing friend and employee, Mark Schneider. Mark is a former resident who says he "never really could leave the Mission." After completing the program, Mark stayed to volunteer and eventually was hired as the Assistant Food Service Manager, where he faithfully served for seven years.

Mark has recently started his college career at Penn Commercial for Computer Aided Drafting. With the determination and skills Mark has been gifted with, we know he'll be successful in all his endeavors.

Fortunately for the City Mission family, Mark has taken a position as an evening/weekend Houseman for McCausland Men's Shelter!
The Legal Clinic
City Mission Legal Clinic volunteer, Brian Gorman, Deputy Public Defender for Washington County, and City Mission Chief Legal Officer, Mary Bates, were both presented with the Pro Bono Volunteer of the Year award in October by the Washington County Bar Association.

The Legal Clinic of City Mission works diligently to provide pro bono legal services for the residents of City Mission.
Donations With A Cause

In October, a Tanger Outlets representative stopped by and donated over 200 t-shirts from their annual Fit for a Cure 5K Run/Walk that benefits Breast Cancer Awareness. With all the sizes we were given, we were able to find something for everyone. Thank you Tanger Outlets for your generous in-kind donations!

Fix My Eyes [Lyrics] - for KING & COUNTRY
Fix My Eyes [Lyrics] - for KING & COUNTRY
Christian artists, For King and Country, have a chart topping hit,
Fix My Eyes, that we would love to share with you this week. To summarize quickly, the song is about what you would do differently if you could rewind your life and "come face to face with a younger me." As we are all sinful by nature, there are many things in our lives we wish we would have done differently, but the message of this song is to fix our eyes on Jesus Christ. Even though we can't rewind time, we can still start today with a renewed focus on what's important!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at the City Mission
