Seth Kahan on Leadership // Monday Morning Mojo
A Week in Silicon Valley
Seth at GoogleLast Monday I flew to Silicon Valley where I spent 3 days with my good friend, Robbie Baxter. Robbie is a membership guru - she wrote The Membership Economy, which has been the #1 Amazon bestseller in 6 different categories! Robbie introduced me to a number of super smart colleagues in a great variety of organizations.

The tone of our conversations was great. Everyone was ready to give me an hour or more of creative time, thinking together about my work in Grand Challenges and brainstorming for synergies. It was an innoation hackathon.

Each environment was its own brand of focused creativity, from the platinum concentration of the world's most admired company to the wild purple of Yet Another Heirarhically Organized Oracle, from the chaotic and colorful center of acutel acumen to the improvised office of new company inside what used to be a home. It was Silicon Valley at its best.

I learned a great deal. It was a 3-day intensive course in my work with some of the greatest minds I have had the opportunity to jam with. Time well spent, and I have a whole new set of business relaionships to develop. It was a great adventure!

Adventure is not outside man; it is within.
