Do you have your oxygen mask on?
I have been enjoying the books of Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks, the relationship experts. For decades they have been helping couples find fulfillment and happiness. I guess it took me a long time to find them as I just started into their material at the end of 2015, but it's a real treasure trove nonetheless.

One of my favorites is Conscious Loving Ever After: How to Create Thriving Relationships at Midlife and Beyond. They start the book off by giving away their most important tip, and I think you know what it is.
oxygen maskBefore you can give love, you have to have it yourself. Coming into contact with your partner from a place of fulfillment makes all the difference in the world. It positions you to give attention and love with an abundance of inner resources at hand.

It is so important to provide yourself with the care only you know you need, and to do so adequately so that you are thriving. And that is the best thing you can do for your relationship.

I think that goes for life as well. When you have been getting what you need, not only are you more pleasant to be around but also you are generous, attentive, and able. So, do yourself and everyone around you a favor - take care of yourself, really take care of yourself. It's where to start and what to keep up if you value your relationships, all of them.

There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.
