Grand Challenge!
Earth Grand ChallengeGrand Challenges are bold and powerful goals that leaders take on to make the world a better place. I am now working with five leaders helping to define and launch their organization's Grand Challenges.

Our world's biggest challenges are also our biggest opportunities.

My mission is to help launch 100s of Grand Challenges over the next five years.

I am working on my next book, a roadmap to help leaders in organizations of all sizes start and acheive Grand Challenges. Over the last 10 days I have interviewed the leaders below.

To keep track of the resources i am finding I have started GrandChallenge.info, a Tumblr blog where I can quickly enter Grand Challenges, people, methodologies, websites, and communities.

Here''s a sampling:

* Christina Economos, PhD, Co-Founder and Director, ChildObesity180

ChildObesity180 merges evidence-based public health research with business, government, and nonprofit leadership expertise to ignite a sense of urgency, and create right-now change for children and society. Chris' work with ChildObesity180 is setting precedents for solving a national/international problem, and revealing how to get it done.

* Nicholas Haan ? Faculty Director, Global Grand Challenges / Managing Director, Impact Partnerships & Programs, Singularity University

Singularity University is a non-traditional suite of educational programs, innovative partnerships, and a "startup accelerator" that helps people, businesses, institutions, NGOs, and governments understand cutting-edge technologies in order to use them to positively impact billions. Their unofficial motto: to make a billion dollars, help one billion people.

* Michelle Popowitz ? Executive Director, UCLA Grand Challenges

Under Michelle's direction, UCLA Grand Challenges is bringing together some of the best and brightest to tackle two incredible goals:
1. Make Los Angeles 100% sustainable in water, energy, and biodiversity by 2050,
2. Cut depression in half by 2050, and to see it eradicated by the end of this century.

Our world's biggest challenges are also our biggest opportunities.
