Golden Shadow
Your  beauty often shines in the areas where you struggle most.

The Jungian idea of a shadow is that part of yourself that you do not claim, that you do not state or assert is part of you. Most often it refers to something that you are ashamed of or embarassed by. Inside that category of judgement, there is such a thing as the Golden Shadow - that part of you which is magnificent which you do not acknowledge.

Have you ever had the experience where somebody thanks you for something you have done, and you slough it off as if it were not deserved or worth acknowledging? Perhaps you thought to yourself, you shouldn't have to thank someone to do that; it's the least that can be expected. That's your Golden Shadow at work.

In a conversation with my good friend, Scott Edinger (who just published The Hidden Leader: Discover and Develop Greatness in Your Company), we were discussing how people often teach best what they intentionally struggle with most. If you take a good look at what you have taken on, and applied yourself to with unceasing devotion, you will likely find a gold mine. All you need to cash it in is bring it into the light of your consciousness. Easier said than done, but well worth the effort.

To confront a person with his shadow is to show him his own light.
