Seth Kahan on Leadership // Monday Morning Mojo
It's a Milestone!
Sunday was my son's 18th birthday - a real milestone on the road to adulthood. In about 6 months he'll be setting off for college. This transition is filled with a mixture of emotions. My wife and I are sad to see him off, but happy that he is high-spirited and excited about the next stage of life and school.

Ruchi JumpsToday he lead the whole family on a picnic lunch into the woods, climbing among the rocks that line the Potomac river. Here he is helping his sister, Ruchi, jump across a tributary feeding into the great river.

As he grows up, he helps his little sister get across some substantial obstacles in the process, literally and figuratively.

We had a great time. It was a chilly spring day, grey skies. But it wasn't too cold. Just a nice reminder that spring has not yet arrived fully here in Washington, DC.

Among all our friends, families and colleagues there is always an important date or achievement in progress: a new baby, wedding, important birthday... something to celebrate. Each of these is a notch in time, signifying the best of what life has to offer. They are an opportunity to pause and take in the value of life.

What milestones are occuring within your sphere of influence this week? Look for an opportunity to congratulate someone, share a moment, indulge in gratitude together and experience grace.

There is nothing like that exquisite moment when you first discover the beauty of connecting with others in celebration of larger ideals and shared wisdom.
