BECOME A PRESBYTERIAN PANELIST

From the PCUSA website:

Presbyterian Research Services is inviting YOU to join a list of potential Presbyterian Panelists!

Since 1973, church leaders have turned to the Presbyterian Panel to learn more about the beliefs and practices of Presbyterians. By joining this list, you will be added to a group of people who are willing to answer occasional surveys that may help Presbyterian entities, congregations, and others make informed decisions and reach their goals.

It is important that the group of panelists we select represents Presbyterians as a whole. We are also interested in extending our panel to represent those in new worshiping communities, new immigrant fellowships, and new expressions of worship! All surveys will be available in English, Spanish, and Korean.

If you are interested in serving on the Presbyterian Panel, please answer the following demographic questions to help Research Services select a representative sample of Presbyterians: http://eepurl.com/bfUuIb

If you are selected to become a Presbyterian Panelist, you will be sent a welcome letter with further details. If you are not selected right away, Research Services will keep you on a list of potential Panelists for the future. You can unsubscribe from this list at any time.

ORDINATION EXAM READERS NEEDED

The Committee on Preparation for Ministry in New Brunswick seeks Ordination Exam Readers for election by the Presbytery. New Brunswick has been asked to elect 3 Ruling Elders and 3 Teaching Elders, plus one alternate, at the June Presbytery meeting. Exam reading weeks will be Aug 3-7 OR November 2-6. This is the third year that all reader training and all exam evaluation will be done completely online.

For those who might be interested, what is involved?

1. Readers must have reliable internet access, as all work is done online.(you can work from home or wherever you want) 2. Readers should be willing to prepare ahead of time (resources available on Moodle exam website) 3. Readers should be willing to clear the first several days of the reading week in order to evaluate exams ( Mon-Wed are key) 4. Readers will be able to choose whether the Aug or the Nov week is better for them.

"The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) continues to affirm the crucial role the ordination exams play in the discernment and preparation of future teaching elders for the church. This program is dependent upon the presbyteries to provide gifted and committed readers to provide the evaluations of this work done by our candidates. Your efforts provide a service to our candidates, their presbyteries of care, and our congregations." (Timothy Cargal, Assistant Stated Clerk, Preparation for Ministry)

Please prayerfully consider the call to this ministry of discernment and preparation. Thank you! Please email Leslie Dobbs-Allsopp: [email protected].

CHOIR FESTIVAL AT FLEMINGTON CHURCH

There will be a Choir Festival at the Flemington Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 19th at 3 PM.  The festival service "Jubilation!  Celebrating Christ Throughout the Liturgical Year" will feature 125 singers representing twelve churches.  The massed choir in colorful robes will sing seven anthems accompanied by the church's large pipe organ, grand piano, brass quartet and handbells.

The spiritual "Ride the Chariot" will feature guest soprano Nicole Pantos Vilkner. The audience will sing  several familiar festive hymns with soprano descants and brass.  The music will be interpolated with scripture, readings and prayer.  The musical event is being organized by J. Jay Smith, the church's Director of Music/Organist.

The church is located at 10 East Main Street by the monument. The event is free with an optional free-will offering and the public is cordially invited to attend

EARTH DAY WALK WITH COVENANT CHURCH

All are welcome to join us after worship Sunday, April 19, for a walk to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day. We will walk through the Pole Farm and Farm History districts of Mercer Meadows Park in Lawrence. Ruling Elder Jeff Lippincott will be our leader, share information about the districts' interesting history and provide transportation to and from the walk with the church van.

We will cover about three miles at a steady, moderate pace over mostly flat terrain. Dress in layers, wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Bring binoculars if you have them, as Mercer Meadows is a prime spot for bird watching. Why not wear your walking clothes to church that day? Here's the Mercer County Park Commission's website for Mercer Meadows: http://www.mercercountyparks.org/parks/mercer-meadows

Those wishing to drive to the walk in their own vehicles can follow the van or contact the church office at 609.989.8282 for more information. We will leave the church parking lot by approximately 12:00 noon.  Covenant is located at 471 Parkway Ave in Trenton.

THE CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING

Last year five churches in our presbytery (Flemington, Hopewell, Mt Airy, Stockton,& Titusville) joined in this large ecumenical effort and had a great experience. We would encourage our fellows to consider sending someone to the introductory meeting to learn more about it!

Here is the invitation:

"One Sunday morning last fall churches of different denominations in several states left their buildings to bless their communities through an unbelievable number of mission projects. When they met that night to worship Jesus it was like a taste of heaven.

This year I invite you and the people of your congregation or ministry to link arms with us for Living Outside the Box: The Church Has Left the Building 2015. There will be an introductory meeting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22nd at Woodside Presbyterian Church - 1667 Edgewood Road, Lower Makefield, PA. Come, bring some leaders and learn about it. There's no obligation to sign up, we're not selling anything, and we don't charge anything to be part of this. You can choose any Sunday to leave your building.

To sign up for the April 22nd  introductory meeting  Click Here.  Please feel free to forward this email to other pastors. To learn more watch this two minute video by clicking here. You can also get more details by Clicking Here.
Yours in Christ,

  • Between 2:00PM and 4:00PM, a workshop will be conducted by Chih-huei Huang. If you have kenzan pin holder, please bring it with you along with your favorite container.
