FPC AND SHAD FEST

FPC, the Community Church of Lambertville, recently welcomed over 15,000 visitors to its front door during the annual Shad Fest weekend in Lambertville-New Hope, 24-26 April.  Between the free food and drinks offered, over 400 Bibles were distributed, and over $2,000.00 was raised to support the ministry and missions of the church which this year benefited Urban Promise Trenton and Friends of Israel ministries. Highlighted were church tours and emphasis on the church's 200th Anniversary in 2016. Our theme is "200 years of faith, hope and grace for the Delaware River Valley for the next 200 years."

THE SYMPOSIUM

The next meeting of The Symposium book club will be on Monday, May 11 at Princeton Seminary. For those who are able to come in the afternoon, our planning session for 2016 will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Clarke Lounge in Erdman Hall (20 Library Place). Dinner will be in the cafeteria in Mackay Campus Center at 6 p.m. with our regular meeting to follow at 7:00 p.m. back in the Clarke Lounge.

The book for this month is "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity" by Nabeel Qureshi. This fascinating story of a man raised with a deep love and commitment to Islam and his later embrace of the Christian faith will challenge us to think deeply about what we believe and how we bear witness to others. Pat Lasusky will give the presentation.

Below is a list of titles that have been proposed so far for consideration for 2016. Additional suggestions are still welcome. As we always have trouble narrowing our list down for the eight available dates, please give some thought to this before our meeting. If you cannot attend the afternoon session, feel free email suggestions to [email protected] about which books you would most like to study next year.

We look forward to seeing you on May 11. As always, we welcome visitors and guests. Dinner for first time guests will be paid for out of our treasury.

RECOGNITION OF MISSION WORK AT PRESBYTERY MEETING
Presbytery members:  At the June meeting of Presbytery, the Mission Coordination and Social Witness Committee would like to do as we did last year at our June meeting - we recognized and commissioned all persons who are going to participate in mission activity during the summer months.  Since it was the year of General Assembly, we also commissioned them.  If you know of any church mission project that will take place during the summer months, please contact me and give me details, Ted Settle, at [email protected].  For this purpose, mission does not mean international mission only; any organized effort by a local church for its members to be engaged in outreach to others locally, nationally or internationally counts as far as the committee is concerned.  For example, the Bound Brook Church will send about 80 youth and adults to work with the Appalachian Service Project this summer.
