Robotics Teams Compete with Character
Congratulations to the Hubbard Elementary School Robotics Team and the Monroe County Middle School Robotics Team!  Each team won first the Core Values Award at the First Lego League Competition on Saturday.   The core values award is given for teamwork, living the core values throughout your life, and helping other people; the robot performance award is given to the team that can best design a robot to meet the challenges on the table and explain how they analyzed those challenges and developed a strategy for dealing with those challenges.  System Stem Coach Susan Curtis stated, "I am super pleased and proud to announce that Hubbard Elementary's robotics team took the robot performance award and core values award today at their competition! This is the best any of the robotics teams have done in our four year history! Many thanks to Natalie Parham and Kera Davis for their excellent coaching this year. "
"Congratulations to the MCMS Varsity robotics team sponsored by Heather Wheeler for winning the core values award at the regional championships. This award is based on teamwork, living your values not only in competition but also throughout your life, and helping other people. It shows our kids have great character! They are awaiting news of whether they will make it to the super regional competition.
Mrs. Wheeler is an asset for our robotics teams, and she has led  her team well."
Also representing Monroe County Schools and their individual schools well were TG Scott Elementary and KB Sutton Elementary Schools.
