Greetings and blessings! By now, I am sure you have heard the incredible news that another Dallas abortion center -- Northpark at 8363 Meadow Rd -- has permanently closed! This Saturday, June 7, we are celebrating this amazing victory for life with special closing events, including a Mass of Thanksgiving at Christ the King celebrated by Msgr. Don Zimmerman at 8 a.m., a powerful Memorial Service from 9 to 10 a.m. outside the now-closed Northpark -- as we must do whenever these places close -- led by Fr. Paul McCormick, O. Cist., followed by a Celebratory Reception back at the church with special guests and speakers. Click here for the flyer with a detailed scheduled. It's been 4 1/2 years since the last abortion facility in Dallas closed. Please spread the word about this important event that has been over 20 years in the making! Thanks be to God!! (Please note: If you cannot join us for the Mass first, please meet us at Northpark at 9 a.m. Marshals will be available to direct you to nearby parking.)

Also this month is the annual CPLC Volunteer Appreciation Picnic and Swim Party on June 14 at the home of Bill and Carol Orender. All CPLC staff, Parish Pro-Life Coordinators, volunteers, and their families are invited to enjoy this day of fun, food and fellowship. Plus Baby Bank prize winners will be announced! If you plan to come, please let me know by this Friday, June 7.

And this coming Monday, June 9, is the early registration deadline for the 2014 Youth For Life Pro-Life Boot Camp (after which, prices will increase). We are again co-hosting two sessions at the University of Dallas, on June 27-29 and July 25-29. This is an opportunity for high school youth to learn the "nuts and bolts" of being an advocate for life and have fun doing it. This year's theme is Abortion Around the World: The Real War on Women. Visit prolifedallas.org/bootcamp for more information. (We are also in need of safe-environment cleared adult chaperones and Junior Staff.)

Please also mark your calendars for the following additional events in June:

At the end of this month, on June 24, the Church celebrates the great Feast of the Birth of John the Baptist. Jesus himself spoke of John as the greatest of all the prophets who had preceded him, saying, "Amen, I say to you, among those born of women, no one is greater than John ..." (Luke 7:28). John was the herald of the Messiah, announcing the coming of the Kingdom, and calling everyone to a radical reformation of life. His purpose was not to glorify himself, but to prepare the way for Jesus. In our current times should we not also be preparing the way for Jesus? Are we not also being called to a fundamental reformation of life, because we champion the cause of life?

Let us ask God to strengthen our commitment to our pro-life mission. And may His blessings be on you and your family.

Thanks for all you do for Life, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on June 14!

God bless,

David
