Jewish Death & Dying

Sisterhood's Social Action Committee is working on a major project - a forum planned for 2014 on the topic of  -
"A Community Conversation on Death & Dying".

The next meeting is this Tuesday, May 21 at Temple at 7:00 pm. The Committee welcomes volunteers who would be interested in helping with the project.  For further information, contact Karen James,  VP, Social & Community Action, by replying to this email.

Reesa Devlin was elected sisterhood president at our annual meeting on May 7, 2013. Reesa and the board members will be installed into office during Friday Night Shabbat Services on July 5, 2013.  Note:  Services start that evening at 7:30 pm!  Oneg Shabbat following services hosted by Sisterhood.

Children's Pyjamas & Nightgowns Needed

 

Help Sisterhood reach its goal of collecting at least 100 pairs of new children's pyjamas or nightgowns - part of our Bedtime Kits campaign for children in transition homes or otherwise in need. This campaign is part of our Sisterhood's celebration of WRJ's 100th birthday in 2013.

  

To obtain the greatest variety of sizes from our sisterhood members, we have assigned the sizes to be purchased for both boys or girls new pyjamas  or nightgowns based on the first letter of your surname, as follows:

Dress for Success - Summer Hiatus

Sisterhood will not be accepting donations of items for Dress for Success from May 22 until September 16 and  the racks will not be available in the Temple garage.  Thank you so much to all our volunteers who have been regularly loading up their cars with the donated items and driving to the downtown Dress for Success site.  These volunteers are taking a much deserved break over the summer.   
 
Sisterhood members will continue to volunteer over the summer once a month at the Dress for Success downtown site to assist clients put together interview outfits.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Bonnie Gertsman by replying to this email.

Or you can mail a cheque payable to Sisterhood of Temple Sholom to the Temple office attention Jean Angus.

Your continued financial support is vital even if your available time does not allow you to volunteer or attend events at this time.  Thank you so much to all those Sisterhood members who have already paid their dues!

WRJ Lilith Salons have provided an opportunity for thousands of women of all generations to come together to meet, socialize, and discuss current, relevant issues.
