Wow! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of the response to our free Moroccan Mystery Block of the Month. We are thrilled, and a bit overwhelmed, by the number of you who purchased kits and who are new to the newsletter. Be sure to watch this short video from me about Moroccan Mystery. I think together we are going to have a lot of fun with this mystery quilt.

In this month's newsletter, we will be introducing my latest fabric collection and quilt, Burano, due in the Studio this month.  We also have news on travel opportunities, a look at an old friend, an announcement on lucky winners, a free pattern and the first installment of our Moroccan Mystery quilt.

Just in time to chase away those winter blues, Burano is due to arrive any day.

Burano was inspired by the Venetian island known for its intricate, handmade lace and brightly colored houses. I've incorporated these vivid colors and elegant designs into this collection of 36 fabrics along with my signature border stripes, large-scale prints and some versatile tone-on-tone designs.
We are currently accepting pre-orders on the Burano fabrics by the yard, as well as the Burano quilt kits.

Log cabin quilts are loved by all quilters. One reason may be the myriad designs created by subtle design changes. The Burano quilt is literally a spin on the traditional log cabin design.

Burano's log cabin blocks are foundation pieced for accuracy and the quilt is assembled with all straight seam sewing.

Just the right size for a wall hanging at 46 ½" square, Burano, comes in two colorways-the rich blues and purples of Amethyst and the beautiful earth tones of Topaz.

Small Business Spotlight - Thimbles by TJ Lane
Tommie "TJ" Lane has been making handcrafted thimbles and sewing tools since she took a metalworking class in the 1960s. Tommie's thimbles are coveted by quilters and sewing enthusiasts for their lightweight, comfort and beauty.  You will find her thimbles on the fingers of many of us here at the Studio. I can't imagine quilting without one!

We carry a large selection of TJ Lane thimbles and related products at the Studio, including those made with my logo. If you can't visit us in person, we have a downloadable thimble sizing chart on our website.

Made from sterling silver or 18k gold entirely in the USA, thimbles by TJ Lane make a perfect gift for any quilter including yourself.

Cosmos BOM Winners
Last month, we asked those who completed their Cosmos top or quilt to send us photos. We selected two at random to win inspiration fabric bundles for the Moroccan Mystery, our 2107 BOM.
Congratulations to J.J. Barnes and JoAnn Camp and thank you for taking part in our Block of the Month.

On the Road Near and Far
Spain - If you will be anywhere near Barcelona March 9-12, you will find me at the Sitges Patchwork Festival where I will be teaching and exhibiting many of my quilts.
Guatemala - Travel with me as the Sew Many Places guides show us the stunning architecture, volcano-studded landscapes, sparkling lakes and traditional crafts of this Latin American country known as the center of the ancient Mayan culture. Visit Sew Many Places for details.

And not so far from home...

Free Pattern
With our American obsession with football and the upcoming Super Bowl tomorrow, some are quite happy to lose their spouses and significant others to the television -- more time to sew! Or sew while you keep your eye on your favorite team.

Our fabric football uses just scraps of fabric and a couple of shoelaces, plus almost a pound of 100% cotton stuffing.

Don't waste any time getting started on making one in your team colors (red and black for the Atlanta Falcons or red, white and blue for the New England Patriots).

Please send pictures!  I'd love to see any footballs you make.
