Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Green Building Is about Health and the Environment

"I'd love to work here, just let me work in this building."I heard these words about 20 years ago when a state administrator visited our new green commercial building. He was drawn to the building because of its beauty and pleasing layout, excellent air quality, natural daylighting, indoor garden areas and pleasant acoustics. In short, he was attracted to the building because it was healthy. And I was delighted to hear affirmed that the building was a perceived "benefit" for prospective or current employees.

Studies have shown that workers in green buildings are more likely to have reduced absenteeism and increased productivity. Students tend to learn faster and patients have greater opportunity for improved outcomes. An array of green design and construction approaches prompt these positive results.
