Legislative Alert! HB 1318 to eliminate REAs needs your voice!

House Bill 1318 attempts to completely eliminate Regional Education Associations (REAs) - the SEEC is one of eight across the state. REAs provide high-quality programs, services, professional development, and solutions that support districts, school leaders, teachers and students - both in the SEEC and across North Dakota.

The SEEC has been working with the other seven REAs to futher communicate wih all members - superintendents, princpals, teachers, school boards and other stakeholders to request support through email, phone calls, letters and testimony.

If you'd like to reach out to your legislators and share your experiences with the SEEC, and other REAs, please click here for more information on how to do so.

Beginning Teachers receive time-effective training + collegial collaboration
Beginning Teacher Network reaches nearly 40 first-year teachers

"I feel like I have learned a lot, been given ample amounts of resources, examples, websites, handouts - all of which I keep near when planning and preparing (and have shared with other teachers in my school."  -- Elementary Teacher, William S. Gussner Elementary, Jamestown

The Beginning Teacher Network's (BTN) intent is to provide an additional layer of support and just-in-time professional development for first-year teachers, but the most important component is an opportunity for collaboration and collegial discussion among the new teachers. The activities and conversations are timed to parallel the immediate concerns the new teachers are facing.  BTN offers three, day-long sessions spread out to help when teachers need it.

ND ESSA Plan Draft

Data, to say the least, can come I many different forms and used in a multitude of different ways. With so much data being collected in education, it is understandable how people can feel overloaded or confused about what is being collected, when is the collection happening, and about whom is it being collected on.

These confusions can lead to the use of inaccurate or misrepresentative data to make decisions... and we DO NOT want that, EVER!

Help is out there! It's time to ease the confusion.

Superintendent & Elementary Principal Jerry Waagen and High School Principal Jim Bear hone in on their "tight-knit" district.
With a collective 51 years of experience, Waagen and Bear bring an great deal of knowledge to Montpelier which is why it isn't surprising that they are implementing some great things in its schools.

The draft ESSA - Every Student Succeeds Act - plan for North Dakota is available on the N.D. Department of Public Instruction's website.

Many teachers, administrators and others have been working on this since Spring 2016 and now it's open for feedback.
If you have comments, questions, concerns, please forward them to any member of the ESSA team.
