Over the past month we've introduced a number of new programs, speakers, and partnerships in Montreat. Keep reading to find out all the details!
Young Adult Initiators | April 11-13, 2018
Later this month we'll be hosting a cohort of young adults to pilot our Young Adult Initiators experience. This group of young adults will come to Montreat and participate in three-day training where they will brainstorm and dream up ways to nurture community, explore meaning, and encourage other young adults to ask questions that will influence their lives of faith for years to come. This new experience is unique because all of these young adults will return to their own context and live out what they've learned. Throughout the year after this training they'll stay in touch and share how they're forming community where they live.
Soul Shop | May 15, 2018
Montreat Conference Center is teaming up with the Presbytery of Western North Carolina Youth Ministry Committee to offer a one-day Soul Shop™ for Youth Workers training. Soul Shop™ for Youth Workers is a faith-based training designed specifically to equip youth workers to minister to youth who are impacted by suicidal desperation.

Since 17% of youth are seriously considering suicide and 10% of youth will attempt suicide before age 30, Soul Shop™ for Youth Workers is essential training for anyone who ministers to youth in a paid or unpaid capacity.

This one-day training is only $20 and includes lunch!
Board of Pensions Seminars | August & October, 2018
Several Board of Pensions Seminars will be held in Montreat this fall. The Board of Pensions The Board of Pensions serves ministers of Word and Sacrament and other employees, and the congregations and other PC(USA)-affiliated institutions that employ them, as it lives into the direction that General Assembly has given it. It provides pension, medical, and death and disability benefits; financial assistance; and educational programs to support a ministry of wholeness, which promotes spiritual, health, financial, and vocational well-being. At its core is the belief that the well-being of church servants contributes significantly to the vitality of the Church.
Christena Cleveland & Eric Law at Better Angels | October 8-11, 2018
When we look at the intersection of today’s headlines and God’s concern we see topics like racism, #metoo, immigration, and violence. In each of these discussions, the common thread is power. Better Angels is a conference all about using the power of communities to change the world. Christena Cleveland and Eric Law are just two of the people helping us unpack the complicated topic of power. Christena is a social psychologist, public theologian, author and professor. Eric Law is an Episcopalian priest and the founder and executive director of the Kaleidoscope Institute, the mission of which is to create inclusive and sustainable churches and communities.
Evolving Faith | October 26-27, 2018
Evolving Faith is an event being held in Montreat. It is described as a gathering of kindred spirits, an opportunity to learn, wrestle, worship, laugh and commiserate as we navigate this journey through the Wilderness together.

Curated by former Women's Connection speaker Rachel Held Evans and Sarah Bessey, Evolving Faith features a robust diversity of speakers leading conversations around everything from the Bible, to parenting, to politics, to racial justice, to art and science.
