CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

2015 Chicano Music Hall of Fame

Su Teatro Cultural & Performing Arts Center

Su Teatro Cultural & Performing Arts Center announces its Call for Nominations for the 13th Annual Chicano Music Hall of Fame Awards. This year's ceremony will be held during Su Teatro's Annual Chicano Music Festival, July 30 through August 2 at 721 Santa Fe Drive.

Established in 2002, The Chicano Musical Hall of Fame honors musicians who have contributed to keeping Spanish-language music flourishing in Colorado. Throughout the years, Su Teatro has honored Colorado musical luminaries ranging from Paco Sanchez and Eva Nuanez to La Familia Coca and Freddie Rodriguez Sr.

  • Rules: Anyone can nominate a musician; a producer or even a physical or organizational entity that they feel represents a significant contributor to Chicano Music.
  • The focus of the HOF is on Colorado musicians, so national musicians although influential are ineligible unless a significant portion of their work and influence was in Colorado.
  • Only nominations submitted via email [email protected] by midnight July 6, 2015.
  • Inductees will be announced on July 13, 2015 via Su Teatro Constant Contact and Facebook

Criteria for Evaluation:

Unique

  • How was the nominee one of a kind?
  • What was the singular contribution that they introduced?
  • Did they introduce a new genre, technique or style?

Longevity

  • The committee seeks to recognize those who were pioneers in advancing Spanish language music here in Colorado.
  • The committee has not defined longevity in terms of years, but is seeking to recognize contributors who have provided consistent or a sustained activities over a period of time
  • There is a desire on the committee's part to honor musicians who may not be with us long, and have limited to posthumous recognition to one year.

Excellence

  • What are the qualities that placed the nominee at the" top of their game"?

Your nominations should include the following:

  1. Please describe in detail how their musical work has expanded exposure to a Chicano aesthetic.
  2. Please provide information that describes how long the nominee(s) has been performing or supporting the musical form.
  3. Please describe in detail how their musical work has been at a high standard of excellence and quality.

Other information: We have shied away from dancers, although some have overlapped. The HOF is not a popularity contest, so the focus of your application should be on the nominee's contributions as they relate to the criteria, petitions or multiple applications will be evaluated for their additional information not their volume.

Nominations will be judged by a panel of experts from within the Chicano music community.

Nominations should be submitted by Midnight, July 6, 2015
