Registration is open for the March 26 Future of Work MeetUp in Antelope Valley hosted by Goodwill Southern California from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chimbole Center at 38350 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.

California Community Colleges, in partnership with California Forward and the California Economic Summit, is holding Future of Work MeetUps across the state and inviting workforce development stakeholders to share observations about the future of work, learn about model workforce development practices and discuss strategies helpful to employers and workers.

If you can't make this one, there are a number of other meetups taking place in the coming months. Here is the full list of upcoming meetups .

A significant component of the Future of Work MeetUps will be a discussion of workers' barriers to upskilling and attaining industry-valued credentials. To that end, please share this link with your employer networks  so they and their employees can communicate their experiences. Share this link with workers  who want to give us feedback on their barriers to upskilling.

EECAEDUCATE & ELEVATE: STUDENT AMBASSADORS

Adult learners can be your program's strongest allies when it comes to taking the AEBG story to policymakers and the community. In this leadership position, adult learners give you another voice and a different perspective when sharing about the value of adult education. If you do not already have a learner ambassador, consider identifying one or two adult learners who, as a result of one of your programs, were able to enter the workforce, advance in the workforce or transition to postsecondary education.

If these individuals are willing to share about their experiences publicly, work with them to identify key points for sharing and allow them to practice with you before asking them to speak at events or meetings. While their stories can be a powerful addition at adult education events, the ambassadors also could serve as a liaison to new or prospective students. This fact sheet, Adult Education Pathways to Success, includes program descriptions, as well as employment and other statistics, that may fit into your ambassadors' narratives.
