July 14 Webinar: Educate & Elevate California Campaign: Support for AEBG Kickoff webinar

Description: The AEBG Office is rolling out a statewide campaign to educate policymakers about the importance of AEBG and the excellent innovations and successes of the program's consortia. We are aligning our efforts with the national adult education campaign called Educate & Elevate, hosted by the Coalition on Adult Basic Education and the National Council of State Directors of Adult Education. Our efforts in California will be to promote all the great work of AEBG and to build a coordinated effort among the consortia and other adult education organizations to conduct visits with key legislators in October. This kickoff webinar will provide details about how to get your consortia recognized in both the California and national campaigns, with the help of our communications partner, Full Capacity Marketing, Inc. The team will walk you through the campaign components, toolkit and timeline.
July 19 Webinar: AEBG Data Submission Guidelines

The California (CA) Data Submission Guidelines for AEBG workshop reviews submission requirements for the end-of-the-year data submission. Learn the "do's" and "don'ts" of data submission and how to avoid the most common data submission errors.
In this session, you will:
- Learn the details of each data submission requirement
- Verify the due dates and options for submitting data
- Learn about common pitfalls and the steps to ensure your data submission is successful
Audience: This training is appropriate for administrators and database managers responsible for completing specific deliverables required to meet the CA AEBG quarterly and end-of-year reporting requirements.

- The AEBG Office and the AEBG Technical Assistance Project (TAP) are hosting a series of webinars and events to provide professional development, technical assistance and important AEBG updates and information. Wednesdays are designated for professional development and Fridays are designated for policy/state updates.
- AEBG Technical Assistance Project webinars will use Adobe Connect. After you register for the webinar at the link provided below, you will receive an email with directions about how to access the webinar. For those who cannot attend the live webinar, an archived recorded version will be made available on the AEBG website.
- If you need help registering for or accessing the webinar, please call the AEBG TAP at (916) 228-2355. You also can email your questions in advance of the webinar to [email protected]. If questions arise at the time of the webinar, please call instead, as your email likely won't be seen once the webinar is underway.

The AEBG Technical Assistance Project (TAP) and the AEBG Office are offering a new support request system on the AEBG website starting today. This new system will allow the TAP and the AEBG Office to work together to answer your technical questions and respond to requests for professional development in a quick and efficient manner. The AEBG Office no longer will provide support through the AEBG email address. The AEBG email account will be used only for submitting reports and data to the AEBG Office. Use the Contact tab on the AEBG website to access the new system to request technical assistance or professional development.

2017-18 Annual Consortium Planning
The 2017-18 planning process will be completed in two phases this year as we transition to our new integrated financial and reporting system:
Phase I: Due Aug. 15 in web portal
2017-18 Annual Plan Template
2017-18 General Assurances
Phase II: Due late October/early November in new fiscal system
2017-18 Budget Detail and Activities
The Annual Plan Template requests big-picture information about key goals, challenges and target accomplishments for the coming year. Member-level activities are not required on the annual plan template.

Budget Detail and Activities will be submitted in the second phase using a new fiscal system that currently is in development. Furthermore, the AEBG Office will host regional trainings on the policy updates in September to assist with the completion of the Budget Detail and Activities form.
Additionally, new this year, we are providing each region with a fact sheet to help identify service gaps and to review progress since the 2012-13 program year.
Below is the complete toolkit to aid regions in completing their plans.
- Consortium 2017-18 Annual Plan Template (updated June 12) - As in previous years, the 2017-18 annual plan will ask consortia to consider key accomplishments and challenges from the prior year, as well as outline goals and activities for the coming funding year. The Consortium Annual Plan Template is intended to support planning by providing an editable "preview" reporting form that can be used to draft the annual plan. The plan itself will be submitted via the AEBG web portal. The template is now available in the portal and will continue to be availalbe through Aug. 15.
- AEBG 2017-18 General Assurances - For purposes of evaluating consortia and the effectiveness of consortium members, the California Department of Education and California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office establish annual indicators of compliance. All consortium members must agree to adhere to these requirements as a condition for receiving AEBG funds. Members who fail to meet the requirements listed in the 2017-18 AEBG General Assurances Document could be deemed non-compliant and that determination could lead to partial or complete loss of consortium and/or member funding.
- Regional Fact Sheets (revised version coming soon) - A revised version of the regional fact sheets will be released this week. We appreciate the feedback from the field which resulted in the revisions. again, these fact sheets will help regions identify gaps as well as review progress since the 2012-13 program year. The sheets provide a demographic summary, funding availability within the region from various funding sources, as well as a gaps analysis for four program areas for which data is available: elementary and secondary basic skills, English as a second language, programs for adults with disabilities, and career technical education.

Campaign components include:
- Outreach campaign toolkit for organizations to tailor and use for advocacy efforts
- Educational webinars and coaching with national marketing and communications experts to leverage the campaign toolkit for your advocacy efforts
- An expansive website to collectively share adult learner and employer success stories, testimonials and the innovations taking place across the country in adult education
- A campaign video to use on your websites to educate target audiences about our national efforts
- Regular eblasts sharing campaign progress and highlights from across the country in adult education innovations and successes

This webinar is the first in a series that builds the capacity of our adult education organizations to proactively and effectively use our campaign toolkit to tell our story. The campaign timeline, toolkit and events will be reviewed in detail, followed by our schedule of webinars with topics that include the best strategies for reaching out to policy makers, effectively telling the adult education story, social media integration and much more.

The AEBG Office has established three field teams: the Data and Accountability Committee, the CTE Assessment Committee and the ABE/ASE/ESL Committee. The committees are comprised of select representatives from K-12 adult schools, community college credit programs and community college noncredit programs, as well as representatives from the California Department of Education and from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
The committees will develop recommendations regarding data tracking, definitions
, assessment and accountability reporting. These recommendations will be presented in a summary paper and in comprehensive documentation of data and accountability requirements for AEBG grantees and will be used to develop the assessment and accountability report due to the legislature Aug. 1.
The field teams welcome input from practitioners. Please read the white papers posted at aebg.ccco.edu and share your thoughts.
