Mo rgan County Career Expo grows in second year
On September 23rd, the Morgan County EDC and Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce hosted 1,000 high school students from around Morgan County at our annual Career Expo. Fifty-six area organizations, organized by industry, exhibited to show students there are "great careers right here at home"! Students voted MTEK Weapon Systems the "Coolest Display" and IU Health Morgan the "Best Student Interaction". Special thanks to our sponsors  Citizens Bank, Duke Energy, First Merchants Bank, Franciscan St. Francis Health, IU Health Morgan, SCI REMC, Kroger, Home Bank, Banning Engineering, Carpenter Realtors, Starbucks, and SERVPRO as well as Martinsville Rotary and Kiwanis clubs for volunteering their time and talents.

EDC hosts Economic Development Summit
Morgan County EDC hosted an Economic Development Summit on August 28th for elected and appointed government officials throughout Morgan County. Topics included TIF districts, abatements, the role of utilities in economic development, site selection, and state programs. A special thanks to our speakers as well as our sponsors Duke Energy, SCI REMC, Vectren, Hendricks Power, and Indianapolis Power & Light for making this day possible.

I-69 Section 6 announces "Save the Dates"
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced dates and locations for the 4th quarter public information meetings for Interstate 69 from Martinsville to Indianapolis, known formally as Section 6.
  • Perry Township - Nov 30
  • Mooresville - Dec 1
  • Martinsville - Dec 3
The project team is currently in the process of evaluating the five routes still being considered known as preliminary alternatives, which will be screened to a smaller set of routes known as reasonable alternatives. The reasonable alternatives, access roads, proposed interchanges, and layout of the interstate will be presented at the public meetings.

Hosting locations are still being finalized. INDOT anticipates releasing those details next month.
Subaru of Indiana Automotive adding 1,200 jobs
SIA says increased demand is sparking massive expansion plans. The company says it will invest $140 million to increase production and add more than 1,200 jobs by 2017. TOA (USA) in Mooresville is a Tier 1 supplier of frame and suspension parts to both Subaru in Lafayette and Toyota in Princeton. Read more

Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - North (Vectren North) provides energy delivery services to 570,000 natural gas customers in central and southern Indiana, including Morgan County. Vectren South provides services to 142,000 electric customers and 111,000 gas customers in southwestern Indiana. VEDO provides energy delivery services to approximately 314,000 natural gas customers in west central Ohio.
