The Anatomy of Peace - Class
Tuesdays, April 10-May 1
2:30 @ Morningside and
7:00 @ Morningside or FUMC (TBD)

"The Anatomy of Peace" is by the Arbinger Institute, a global training and consulting firm that specialized in organizational transformation and conflict resolution. The Arbinger Institute asks these questions:
  • What if conflicts at home, conflicts at work, and conflicts in the world stem from the same root cause?
  • What if we systematically misunderstand that cause?
  • And what if, as a result, we systematically perpetuate the very problems we think we are trying to solve?  Every Day.

Conflict is inevitable. In the church, we fondly reflect on the verse where Jesus says, "Wherever two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." Mat. 18:20 We could just as easily say, "wherever two or three are gathered, at some point, there will be conflict." Just think of when you are ordering a pizza with others or selecting a new carpet color for the church sanctuary. The problem is not that there is conflict, rather problems develop because we do not know how to work through the conflict.

The format for the Table Talk discussions scheduled throughout Oregon-Idaho related to the work of "A Way Forward" and the direction of The United Methodist Church is based on the material from this book. (May 22 in Salem at Micah, FUMC) During Annual Conference, we will be hearing a speaker trained in "The Anatomy of Peace."

Pastor Wendy will be offering two classes to engage the material of this book beginning April 10 and continuing through May 1. Classes will be held on Tuesdays at 2:30 at Morningside UMC and 7:00 at either FUMC or Morningside. If you are interested and plan to attend, contact Pastor Wendy at pastorwendymumc@gmail.com. You can order your own book through Amazon or Cokesbury. If you would like Wendy to order you a book, email her ASAP.

Please read Part 1: The Heart of Peace, if you can for class on April 10.

This class is for anyone who desires to get at the heart of conflict
and find the heart of peace.

Blessings, Pastor Wendy
