Voices of Morristown College
This is a "repeat" article from mid February "breaking news," but it is so good it bears repeating!
Bethel UMC will offer a screening of the new documentary,
Voices of Morristown College,
on Monday, March 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of lessons and insights, focusing on Acts 17:26. It will be of interest to note that Bethel UMC was the college's church and remains a vital congregation in the Lakeway Region.
Voices of Morristown College is a film about the profound experience connecting images from the past with the words of the students and teachers who lived parts of their lives at Morristown College brought to life. This film, produced by Holston Conference, focuses on the history and influence Morristown College had on the Lakeway Region Area. Morristown College can be viewed as a great example of coexistence in a time that was rife with racial tensions. The college was founded in 1881 by Judson Hill on the site of a former slave mart. The college was a bastion of learning, first for black students and eventually for students of varying ethnicities. At one point there were students represented from all 50 states.
Support Camp Wesley Woods scholarships by sponsoring or playing in its annual Golf Tournament, April 24, at Egwani Farms.
