Bank of Canada leaves Prime...
The Bank of Canada left Prime alone again as expected, still trying to stop Canadians from going into debt while these low rates are in place. With the world economy barely moving, there is little the Bank can do but keep Prime in place. Bond yields (the fixed rates are tied directly to them) have remained in a holding pattern since bumping up about .25% over th past month...while not at the all time lows of a month ago, they are still very low.
We still expect rates to remain low for the next 12 - 18 months, there is no question of if there will be increases down the road, only when.
With kids back in school and most people back to work, it makes sense to set aside a little bit of time for many of our clients to have a free review done of their current mortgage plan and ensure they are maximizing their savings on this low rate scenario. Please feel free to introduce any of your friends or family who may benefit from this process as well!
