From the Pastor

Greetings all,

This week, I have prepared a devotion for everyone. Let us take a more thorough look at our language for God. Read these texts, and examine what these images might mean for the way we speak and think about God.
  1. What changes about my perception of God when I think in these terms?
  2. Does understanding God in these ways change how I see myself? The world?
Monday - Isaiah 66:12-13
Tuesday - Hosea 13:4-8
Wednesday- Isaiah 49:14-18
Thursday- Jeremiah 44:24-25
Friday - Psalm 123
Saturday - Luke 13:31-35

Have a good week,
Ben

Northmont joins neighbors in supporting NCM's Pleasant Valley Shelter

Groups and organizations within Northmont provide a meal to the Northside Common Ministries Men's Homeless Shelter each month. The below article appeared in the most recent NCM Newsletter:

Did you know...

That the food budget for dinners here at the shelter is $0? That's because every night, folks from churches and businesses around the city show up at the door of the shelter with mountains of food they worked hours to prepare and drove long distances to serve. No man leaves our shelter weighing less than he did when he arrived.

Men and ladies from churches make sure that our men have a hearty and healthy dinner each night. More importantly, those groups provide a sense of community, family and a connection to spirituality that the staff at the shelter cannot provide.

The men are truly grateful for all that you do.

Pie Auction to benefit Youth Mission trip

Northmont Youth will be hosting a Pie Auction, Sunday, May 20, to raise funds for their summer mission trip. If you are willing to bake pies please contact Steph. If you like to eat pies, please mark your calendar and join us on the 20th during fellowship time!

Second UP of Wilkinsburg spring spruce up May 20

Please mark your calendar for our annual opportunity to support the Second United Presbyterian Church of Wilkinsburg in their annual gardening and landscape spruce up. We will help plant the vegetable garden that supports their food pantry, plant perennials, and spread mulch. During the summer they have weekly events that bring the surrounding community to the church's park-like grounds. So, circle May 20th for a beautiful sunny day of having fun serving the Lord on Pentecost Sunday. There will be more details as we get closer. Questions?  Contact Ken Yoest.
