Summer is upon us and although the temperature is hot outside, the ice remains cold inside of the arena! There are a number of different events and activities taking place at Mount Prospect Ice Arena including Lunch Break Skate, Public Skate, Stick N' Puck, camps, clinics, programs, practices, scrimmages, tournaments, and much more. This newsletter features Paul Kuczek, General Manager of Mount Prospect Ice Arena, the Mount Prospect Adult Hockey League (MPAHL), the "Big Fish" 3 on 3 Adult Hockey Tournament, the Glenview Stars Hockey Association, Bricks Wood Fired Pizza Café's monthly specials, and Jerry's Hockey on-ice goalie equipment demo.

Each month, we will take the opportunity to highlight one of the ice arena's employees. They will be asked both work- related and non work-related questions. We hope that this will help familiarize you with some of the people at the facility. Our first employee spotlight features Paul Kuczek, General Manager of Mount Prospect Ice Arena.
Before you starting working at Mount Prospect Ice Arena, what was the most unusual/interesting job you've ever had?
- "My career in Facilities at High School District 211 which brought a new set of challenges each day Districtwide."
What do you enjoy most about working at MPIA?
- "The people. Each group has an identity that shapes the rink."
What is your proudest moments working at MPIA?

"Making it a reality for Nick Sr. and the family!
We went from dreaming to building, to sweeping, to making ice, to greeting guests and teams from all over the United States and Canada. We have not let up yet and never will!"
Favorite line from a movie?
- "Leave the gun, take the cannoli." - The Godfather (1972)
Favorite Sports Team?
- "The Chicago Blackhawks of course!"
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- "That's a tough call...anything Mexican with mole sauce."

- "I actually had a full head of hair at one time!"
You're happiest when...
- "I’m with my wife, Laura, daughter, Jacqueline, son, Andy, and our Boston Terrier, Patsy!"
What's the craziest thing on your bucket list?
- "I'm not much of a "list" guy. I believe that life is a journey...enjoy everyday, you never know!"

Mount Prospect Adult Hockey League

The inaugural Spring/Summer Season is underway at Mount Prospect Ice Arena. The MPAHL is currently comprised of 4 divisions and a total of 22 teams. It is the league's design and intention not only to make adult hockey affordable but also convenient by providing its users with reasonable game times and static weekdays all under one roof.

A/B Division - 4 Teams
C1 Division - 8 Teams
C2 Division - 4 Teams
Over 40 Division - 6 Teams

"BIG FISH" 3 ON 3
ADULT HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Mount Prospect Ice Arena will host its inaugural “Big Fish” 3 on 3 Adult Hockey Tournament 4 consecutive weekends in July. Enter a team of 7-10 players for an exciting and unique experience. Each registered team is guaranteed 4 games with the possibility of playing up to 6 games. The winning team of each division will receive a $500.00 cash prize based on 12 team entries in each division. The tournament will consist of the following 4 divisions:
Gold Division - Saturday, July 8th, 2017
Current or former Professional, Junior A, NCAA D1 & D3, ACHA D1, and AAA players
Silver Division - Saturday, July 15th, 2017
Current or former ACHA D2 & D3 players. Former AA or High School Hockey players
Bronze Division - Saturday, July 22nd, 2017
Adult Hockey “C” Division players
Over 40 Division - Saturday, July 29th, 2017
All skaters must be (40) years or older – goaltenders must be at least (35) years of age

GLENVIEW STARS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
|

The Glenview Stars Hockey Club was formed in the early 1970's with only 10 teams. Since then, it has doubled its size, featuring Mite, Squirt, PeeWee, Bantam, and Girl levels playing in a combination of both the Northern Illinois Hockey League and the Central States Development Hockey League. As the program continued to grow, it found itself renting ice from 5 different rink locations in addition to its home ice rink, the Glenview Ice Center.
The Stars, who have won State, National, and even International Championships at various levels, were bursting at the seams.
During the 2016-2017 Season, the Stars began training and competing at Mount Prospect Ice Arena. Sylvain Turcotte, Hockey Director circa 1988, notes, "The Stars are truly fortunate to be able to skate at this state-of-the-art facility. Our players get more "full" ice time, which helps the coaching staff work on more realistic concepts and tactics. We're confident that our partnership with the ice arena will help us build on our strong history of excellence. As an added bonus, the families and spectators love the rink and all it has to offer."

On Saturday, May 20th, 2017, Jerry's Hockey hosted an on-ice goalie equipment demo at Mount Prospect Ice Arena.
32 men and women were given the opportunity to demo the latest equipment offerings from, Brian’s Custom Sports, CCM, and Vaughn Hockey.
